The Opportunity:

The Software Engineering Manager takes responsibility for delivery and consultancy of WS BB UK testing activities. The job holder contributes to successful delivery of DBB UK DevOps platform by providing technical / application guidance to project teams and providing guidance to multiple project teams. The responsibilities entail areas such as conducting feasibility studies, requirement analysis, design and development, technology update, knowledge sharing, as well as coding. The role should be aligned with group standards, IT and business strategy, meet business objectives and satisfy all relevant regulatory, architecture standards and operational risk.

What you’ll do:

  • Understand Group and Wholesale strategy, help define technical strategy and execute which to fulfill business needs and aspirations on growth, management and control.
  • Plan for people and project management, provide coaching and guiding directly or indirectly to teams having developers, testers, analyst and architects inside by giving clear direction, feedback and timely suggestions to ensure a high-quality standard of deliverables according to HSBC standards and best practices.
  • Address existing technical debt and drive for technical evolution aka Digital Transformation for the teams by working closely with various parties including business, SMEs, Solution Architects globally.
  • Establish and maintain trustworthy relationships with business and relevant stakeholders.  Manage expectation of key stakeholders and work jointly to maximize interest of business and customers.
  • Manage supply and demand pipeline and give guidance, direction for making decision to achieve goals, deliver products that align with business core interest.
  • Lead the testing team for WSIT DBB UK (both manual and automation).
Requirements
  • Develop and implement an automation strategy for API, Mobile, Web testing, considering project requirements, timelines and overall quality goals.
  • Solid background as Automation tester with focus on API, Web, and Mobile testing.
  • Strong proficiency in programming languages commonly used in automation testing-Java or Python.
  • Experience working on Rest Assured or TestNG-based API Automation.
  • Oversee the execution of automation test suites, analyze results, and report defects.
  • Provide the Test Manager with accurate and precise estimates for assigned task duration, along with confidence levels and foreseeable dependencies.
  • Strong Experience in cucumber-based Appium framework.
  • Strong experience in Mobile UI Automation framework setup for iOS Native App and Android App using Appium Desktop, XCode, WebdriverAgent, and Android Studio on real iOS and Android device.
  • Strong Experience in Cross-browser testing, mobile device testing on Android on Android & IOS native and hybrid apps using local environment &Cloud based environments like Appium & Browser stack.
  • Nice to have Banking and Financial Services Domain knowledge.

What additional skills will be good to have?

  • Experience on banking / HSBC and understanding of how change drives benefits for HSBC, its customers and other stakeholders will be an advantage.
  • Experience on HSBC business banking system knowledge will be an advantage.
  • Knowledge about HSBC service management process like CR, ICE would be an advantage.
