The Opportunity:

We are seeking a highly skilled Backend Engineer to join our AI cloud/on-prem platform team. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in integrating existing AI projects at HSBC, focusing on data ingestion and API development to support global usage 

What you’ll do:

• Develop and maintain backend services to support AI applications, ensuring seamless integration across GCP and on-premise platforms. 
• Handle data ingestion from on-premises, and GCP cloud for analysis. 
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to assist in architectural design and proof of concept (POC) efforts. 
• Ensure API development follows best practices and meets security and compliance standards. 
• Work closely with AI and data science teams to support the deployment AI projects.
• Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues to maintain service reliability.

• 2-5 years of relevant experience in backend development. 
• Familiarity with database technologies like SQL, NoSQL (e.g. MongoDB, PostgreSQL). 
• Knowledge of version control systems, particularly Git. 
• Experience with RESTful API design and development, particularly in Python. 
• Strong knowledge of data ingestion/integration technologies. 
• Familiarity with cloud platforms, particularly Google Cloud. 
• Proficiency in working with Hadoop/Spark ecosystems. 
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to manage tasks efficiently. 
• Excellent communication skills to interact with technical and non-technical stakeholders. 

What additional skills will be good to have?
• Experience with LLM or other AI relevant technologies. 
• Knowledge of MLOps and GenAI/GPT. 
• Familiarity with Kubernetes and container orchestration.
