As part of digital business services, WPB Insurance IT provides technology solutions to support Insurance businesses globally. Customer and Distribution (also called C&D) is a major Service Line reporting into WPB Insurance IT, that is servicing the Insurance ASP (including China, Hong Kong and Singapore). C&D is the electronic front door, responsible for developing, building, and improving on the digital platforms that both our customers and front-line sales use.


The Opportunity: 
C&D is providing a digital solution to support business for lead generation in both HSBC internal and 3rd party channels and providing post sales service to insurance customers. It adopts different digital solutions in the whole journey and integrating with other insurance applications.


What you’ll do: 

  • Act as software engineer to design and implement IT solutions to meet business users’ requirements.
  • Understand overall functional and non-functional requirements, perform/implement unit test /integration test.
  • Deliver under agile development methodology, and run all necessary agile ceremony and handle various team activities, such as '- prepare project related documentation and provide support on compliance and audit query.
  • Ensure a high-quality standard of deliverables according to HSBC standards and best practices.
  • Contribute to deliver future state of architecture solution (e.g. micro-service).

Requirements

What you will need to succeed in the role: 

  • A university graduate with degree in computer science or a related discipline.
  • 4+ years IT experience in system development with both Waterfall and Agile methodologies.
  • Solid skill set and development experience in React/React Native or Angular, Java Script, Unix/Linux, GitHub and Maven/Gradle is essential.
  • Solid knowledge of Spring framework, hands on development experience on Spring & Spring Boot, Restful API development.
  • Experience of DevOps focused environment and Agile Team, and knowledge of DevOps tooling (e.g. Jira, Confluence, Jenkins, Ansible etc.).
  • Technical experience in system architecture design will be strong advantage.
  • Technical experience in micro service architecture, Docker, Kubernetes, AWS Platform will be strong advantage.
  • Business knowledge in life insurance domain will be an advantage.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, able to work independently and under pressure against multiple deadlines.
  • Strong communication skills and documentation skills.
  • Enthusiastic and self-motivated with excellent time management skills and strong initiative.
