We are currently seeking an experienced professional to join our team in the role of Software Engineering Manager.

The Opportunity:  
This role is located in China, will work for GTS Engineering Team, to play a key role in leading Engineering Practice and DevOps engineering for global technology teams. As platform capabilities are delivered, this role will form the core of the team responsible for driving efficiency in project delivery and product/service releasing. The Software Engineering Manager role takes responsibility for driving the best Engineering Practice and fostering Engineering Culture by means of establishing/implementing Engineering metrics, setting up OKRs in line with group strategy and following through whole project life-cycle and boosting the latest technologies across global IT teams. The job holder contributes in successful delivery of IT projects by providing technical / application guidance to project teams and providing guidance to multiple project teams. The responsibilities entail areas such as conducting feasibility studies, requirement analysis, design and development, technology update, knowledge sharing, team management as well as coding. This role should algin with group standards, IT and business strategy, meet business objectives and satisfy all relevant regulatory, architecture standards and operational risk.

What you’ll do:  
-  Understand Group and CMB strategy, help define technical strategy and execute to fulfill business needs and aspirations on growth, management and control.
-  Plan for people and project management, provide coaching and guiding directly or indirectly to teams having developers, testers, analyst and architects inside by giving clear direction, feedbacks and timely suggestions to ensure a high quality standard of deliverables according to HSBC standards and best practices.
-  Address existing technical debt and drive for technical evolution aka Digital Transformation for the teams by working closely with various parties including business, SMEs, Solution Architects globally.
-  Establish and maintain trustworthy relationships with business and relevant stakeholders.  Manage expectation of key stakeholders and work jointly to maximize interest of business and customers.
-  Manage supply and demand pipeline and give guidance, direction for making decision to achieve goals, deliver products that align with business.
-  Ensure strict adherence to all regulatory issues and compliance of all internal controls.
-  Management of operational risk. 

Requirements

- Candidate must be fluent in English with strong senior leadership management skill, ability / experienced with delivery of projects in the IT industry.
- 15 years of IT project management delivery experience, full knowledge in monitoring and controlling each phase of the software development lifecycle process.
- Demonstrable ability to mentor, develop talent and motivate staff to reach their optimum performance levels and career development.
-  Strong communication skills and documentation skills.
-  Strong problem solving skills.
-  Enthusiastic and self-motivated with excellent time management skills and strong initiative.
-  Able to work independently and effectively under pressure.
-  Able to adapt in global team culture and communication in different locations.
