The Opportunity:

  • This purpose of this role is to drive an effective control environment, addressing all known and emerging risks. The role holder will lead and coordinate an effective delivery for all Risk and Control topics, and ensure all risk actions, read across of identified issues, control monitoring as well as actions from RCA, Dash One and other risk forums are 
  • executed as expected. This role will work alongside the GPSO CCO lead for the region, and ensure countries are embedding a strong risk and control delivery regimen.
  • Objectives  
  • Provide regional oversight and support for all risk and control matters, helping countries ensure all L1 and L2 controls are effective or a plan in place
  • Ensure countries are working within risk appetite, call out outliers and drive closure of identified issues
  • Support control design
  • Monitor controls continuously and provide necessary support before and during audits 
  • Identify opportunities to automate and enhance control monitoring through a data driven approach
  • Support strategic projects working with cross functional teams
  • Act as a bridge among business teams, risk partners and stakeholders to ensure aligned effective risk management practices
  • The role includes accountability for operational risk management, escalation and mitigation of risks, timely risk reporting and ensuring known risks and less than effective controls are managed.

What you’ll do:

  • Work with Country Heads of Payments to support all Risk and Control deliverables
  • Drive a consistent control framework 
  • Support effective design of material operational controls. 
  • Support effective design, analysis and remediation of control measures.
  • Contribute to regional / global risk initiatives
  • Provide guidance on audit preparedness, implement best practices and drive risk culture
  • Identify thematic and systemic issues in the control environment.
  • Identify emerging risks and potential operational risk events. 
  • Build effective relationships with key stakeholders across Business Risk including GPSO CCO teams and Lines of Businesses / Product Teams. 
Requirements

What you will need to succeed in the role:

Knowledge

  • Knowledge of the Risks Associated with Payment Services 
  • Clear understanding of operational risk and how it is managed
  • Knowledge of large-scale business processes (within banking or other industries) and the risks inherent in these processes
  • Clear understanding on the end-to-end operations of a Payment journey including but not limiting to Payments Processing &
  • Investigations, Reconciliations, Cheques processing, Client Management & Servicing, Global Billing Systems and pricing operations, Screening Operations

What additional skills will be good to have?

Knowledge

  • Detailed understanding of Payments operation activity and the regulatory environment in which operations has to operate.
  • Knowledge of retail banking, commercial banking and investment banking Payment products and services
  • Understanding of risk and control frameworks and risk polices
  • Knowledge of best practice in risk management
  • Fair understanding on Technological enhancements within the Payments domain, know-how on ISO Program and its impact in the industry
  • and Operational resilience, would be an added advantage.
  • Knowledge of risk management systems (e.g. Helios) would be an added advantage

Experience

  • Operating effectively in a complex, global organization
  • Experience of managing operational risk
  • Experience of designing and implementing process controls
  • Experience of Payments Risk at a Regional level
  • Experience in leading a Payments Portfolio in a market would be an added advantage

Capabilities

  • Process design and/or process reengineering skills
  • Expertise in risk and control reporting – especially in defining and measuring leading risk and control indicators
