Financial Crime IT department is responsible for identifying, analysing and investigating financial crime risks, and ensuring that these risks are properly mitigated within HSBC. The aim of the project is to create a secure and scalable platform that utilises generative AI to automatically generate concise, accurate insights, empowering investigators to quickly assess relevant information, identify suspicious patterns, and accelerate investigations.
We are looking for a skilled Software Engineer with broad expertise in developing microservice-based applications using Java and Spring. Experience with frontend engineering and DevOps practices would be a significant plus.
What you’ll do
- Be responsible for implementing microservice-based application that uses generative AI to aid financial crime investigators in their work
- Design, build and maintain efficient, reusable, secure and reliable code using approved design and coding standards
- Design, develop and implement REST APIs for interactions with services and data in cloud environment
- Work with stakeholders to understand requirements and complete development, testing and deployment of the solution
- Collaborate with Frontend, DevOps, Data and other Backend Engineers being part of the scrum team to achieve project goals
- Ensure that technical and coding standards, as well as Agile and DevOps practices are followed in the team
What you need to have to succeed in this role
- 5+ years of experience in designing, developing and operating distributed microservice-based applications written in Java and Spring
- Strong knowledge and hands on experience with Java 21 or above, Spring, Hibernate, JUnit, REST Assure, Maven, Jenkins, GIT and SQL
- Solid understanding of testing methodologies and frameworks (TDD/BDD)
- Extensive experience in APIs and microservice architecture and patterns
- API contract design (RAML/Swagger)
- Practical experience with Cloud (GCP preferrable), Kubernetes, Docker
- Knowledge of Bash & Unix
- A proven track record of successful delivery of large-scale projects
