HSBC’s Infrastructure Finance (HIF) Group is responsible for infrastructure and export financings, providing a full suite of services to corporates, financial sponsors in a number of sectors, including Power & Utilities, Energy, Renewables, Digital & Telecoms, Transport, Logistics, Support Services, ESG and Carbon Neutral assets. The team provides a single point for clients to access advice on financings, capital structure and debt capital markets, as well as associated execution of mandates. HIF will play a critical role in supporting and financing the energy transition for our clients.
As an Analyst based in Sydney, you will support the team with the origination and execution of transactions in the infrastructure finance. In doing so, you will have involvement in the entire range of internal processes, including financial analysis, modelling, credit work, preparation of presentations and credit papers, as well as transaction related administrative work, supporting the management of existing portfolio assets through work on ongoing credit analysis and transaction management support.
You will be a self-starter with a genuine interest in this sector, who enjoys being part of a collaborative high performing team. In addition to your technical skills, your ability to build strong stakeholder relationships will be key to this role.
This specialised role will give you the opportunity to develop your career in an area of business which is highly relevant in a global context, resulting in meaningful work in the areas of acquisition finance, and large infrastructure projects where there is a need for debt finance. As part of this team, you will have exposure to a range of transactions, high profile deals and the opportunity to truly get involved in an international banking environment.
Your main responsibilities will include:
- Assisting the team with the delivery of business targets through supporting the origination and execution of transactions.
- Undertaking modelling, financial and credit analysis of transactions and transaction opportunities.
- Sector and market research and summaries for clients and internally as well as preparation of marketing material and presentations for clients.
- Assisting the internal approval process through preparation of business and credit papers as part of capital allocation and credit process.
- Supporting the portfolio management of the infrastructure product team through ongoing credit monitoring and analysis.
- Engaging with internal, and to some extent external stakeholders as part of the process of transaction origination and execution.
- Working closely with internal functions, such as credit, compliance and others, as well as product partners to maximise increased product penetration.
- Understanding and ensuring compliance with all relevant internal and external rules, regulations and procedures with a focus on Global Standards including conduct, AML & Sanctions that apply to the business in which the jobholder is involved.
- Maintaining HSBC internal control standards, including timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators.
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- Some experience in corporate and institutional banking or accounting / professional services with understanding of infrastructure finance products is preferred but not essential.
- Strong capability in core credit analysis, financial modelling, report writing and presentation preparation.
- Understanding of ancillary capital markets products such as bonds, USPPs and derivatives would be helpful.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to build and maintain strong stakeholder relationships.
- Good understanding of risk management and risk mitigation.
- Strong organisational skills with ability to work under pressure and manage a number of tasks efficiently.
- A bachelor's degree in finance or related field, with a professional qualification an advantage but not essential.
Preference will be given to candidates who hold Australian or New Zealand PR/Citizenship, or who can show they currently have unrestricted work rights in Australia without limitations.
