The Business QA Associate role will be embedded within cross functional teams from the QA & Test discipline, the role will be responsible within the Pod/team for exploring the software from both a technical and customer perspective to ensure maximum quality is achieved. This will include contributing towards the Pod/team and ideas for requirements which ultimately become tests as part of the Behaviour Driven Development process. As an Business QA Associate you will be expected to gain an understanding of the product under test and use this understanding alongside your testing experience to question and identify defects and improvements to the product features delivered. Finding bugs/defects and working directly with developers to fix these.


What you’ll do

    • Identify and contribute to implementation of improvements to make delivery more efficient saving time and/or money e.g. automation & reuse of test artefacts as well as raise concerns for any future/forward planning tasks e.g. resource constraints, downtime, late delivery etc.
    • Provide estimates for the small/medium task within project delivery with escalation and reporting to lead/manager and ensure project journey meets business & customer standards highlighting appropriately issues or improvements during requirements / testing phases.
    • Raise clear concise defects, no duplication and linking of common issues / Highlight any detrimental impacts where defects have been agreed not to be fixed as well as carry out effective tests to cover requirements and customer behaviour to ensure defects are caught and do not make it through to live e.g. writing test cases from matrix provided or detailing exploratory cases based on a story.
    • Build trusting relationships with stakeholders by consistently meeting and delivering upon their needs; demonstrating and being respected for your domain knowledge.
    • Validate customer behaviour and highlighting any gaps / missed requirements and provide solutions to resolve.
    • Effective tests to cover requirements and customer behaviour to ensure defects are caught and do not make it through to live, including the mapping of these tests to requirements, e.g. writing test scripts from requirements or inputting into BDD tests.
    • Act as a point of referral for other Testers Establish and maintain good communication and relationships, both internal and external to the Bank as a representative of the QA discipline.
    • Share best proactive & knowledge across test teams, demonstrating clear improvement in your performance/behaviours / advocating role model behaviours to peers. Buddying / coaching new starters on the processes and QA discipline.

What you need to have to succeed in this role

    • Excellent knowledge of the testing process, digital channels, and customer expectations.
    • Good relationship management skills to satisfy a wide range of internal and external customers with conflicting priorities.
    • Good knowledge of the Agile development methodology 
    • Experience in using test tools such as Jira, Confluence. 
    • ISTQB qualification.
    • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, to explain complex issues. 
    • Pragmatic decision-making skills, with the ability to make clear judgments based on a range of factors, e.g. risk, customer experience and people to determine the implications and make recommendations as needed.
    • Past working experience in a relevant role, i.e. Exploratory Quality Assurance (QA) Tester / Test Coordinator is desirable but not essential.
