We are currently seeking an experienced professional to join this team in the role of Head of Sales, Global Trade Solutions (GTS)

Role Profile

The Malaysia Global Trade Solutions (GTS) Corporate & Institutional Banking (CIB) Sales Head role is responsible for dynamically generating new business and for initiating and managing sales and growth initiatives. 

Malaysia GTS is one of the dynamic and matured GTS markets in the region with significant potential for growth and thus an excellent opportunity for an experienced and dynamic leader to drive significant growth

The tasks for this role will include most of the following: 
 
 Principal responsibilities

  • Lead and develop a motivated and high-performing team of GTS Sales Managers across Corporate and Institutional Banking (CIB)
  • Proactively identify opportunities within the marketplace, and energetically develop growth strategies which both leverage and develop our GTS offering against market specific needs
  • Stay abreast of technology, regulatory, digital and product developments across the region to provide best in class GTS solutions to clients with multi country footprints across Asia
  • Proven track record of driving scale by thinking sector, patterns, flows and therefore ability to build go to market strategy accordingly for those sectors.
  • Proven track record to have a proposition led approach to scale.
  • Manage a portfolio of GTS local, regional, and global accounts in Corporate and Institutional Banking (CIB) to provide solutions and GTS structures that meet the clients trade and working capital needs
  • Devise and execute an ambitious and robust growth plan to target new opportunities in the GTS CIB business including all facets of originating and executing GTS deals to draw down and revenue growth
  • Dynamically develop new revenue streams by actively identifying opportunities and offering innovative GTS solutions. This includes responsibility for pricing to ensure that the threshold returns are met, reviewing and negotiating the full range of GTS services and priority solutions such as structured trade, ESG and green trade and digitalization.
  • Manage and grow pipeline of opportunities and enable end to end acquisition and growth process
  • Robustly lead growth, ensuring clear direction and delivery of strategic initiatives with thorough and detailed sales and pipeline management, through detailed call reports, meetings attended, monitoring and management of deal pipeline GTS modules and the quality of solutions and presentations
  • Drive best practice in lending and risk policies ensuring this remains in line with economic and market practices ensuring safe and efficient growth.
  • Collaborating with both internal and external stakeholders including regulators, government entities, to maximise both trade and cross-selling opportunities for the bank
  • Developing and implementing distribution channel business development strategies
  • Act as an escalation point for critical transactions and issues
Requirements
  • University degree holder
  • Good client network and track record in global banking and/or trade finance leadership roles
  • Significant complex solution providing or structuring experience with strong grasp of trade knowledge in the market
  • Recognized as a Trade specialist with ability to display in depth knowledge and understand the risk profile of relevant products and services, and act as the representative on opportunities with key clients and deals
  • At least 15+ years’ experience in global banking and/or trade finance front line roles wit at least 3+ years in relevant senior sales leadership roles
  • Awareness of the applicable regulatory and business environment including audit, tax and legal implications, and how they affect customers
