We are currently seeking an experienced professional to join our team.

In this role, you will:  
  • Formulate and drive business and product strategies to acquire new–to-bank business, deepen wallet share and retain existing customers to ensure healthy growth of customer base and achieve the Global Private Banking (GPB)’s ambition of growing the business as the choice of private banker for internationally minded HNW and Ultra HNW clients in China, especially at GBA area.

  • Collaborate with Corporate & Institutional Banking, International Wealth and Personal Banking and other HSBC entities as well as offshore GPB to provide a seamless service experiences and connectivity for GPB clients.

  • Achieve key performance indicators, including net new money, profit before tax, revenue, customer growth, ROE, etc.

  • Effectively manage costs including direct and allocated indirect expenses for the team based on the agreed budget

  • Drive sales and associated activities and monitor the key metrics to ensure productivity is meeting and/or exceeding market norms and GPB business plans

  • Provide support to GPB Market Head of China as a member of the Senior Management Team by participating in executive forums on all issues related within the team

  • Work closely with Branch Management in Shenzhen and Guangzhou to represent GPB’s Southern China business.

  • Actively engage in external events, activities and forums that provide opportunity to build GPB brand among the industries and target customer group

  • Responsible for driving a client-centric culture within the organization and in particular through regular meetings with the most significant clients to HSBC/GPB in Southern China

  • Facilitate the rollout of any new products ensuring that implementation in a compliant manner and within the agreed timelines for assigned region

  • Set the long-term strategic vision and direction for assigned region and identify the key steps necessary for achievement in line with GPB China strategy

  • Provide leadership to motivate the frontline to maximize their potential and create a high performance culture across 2 footprints in GBA, ie. Shenzhen and Guangzhou

  • Act as the role model for the team in terms of behavior and live the Group values

  • Lead the team to acquire and grow appropriate relationships and satisfy client needs

  • Create a clear succession and development plan process to identify and develop talent

  • Maintain and observe all HSBC control standards and implement and observe the Group Compliance Policy, including the timely implementation of recommendations made by internal/external auditors and external regulators

  • Foster a compliance culture and implement Group Compliance Policy by managing compliance risk for the team in liaison with the branch manager and Local Compliance Officer

  • Maintain awareness of operational risk within the team and minimize the likelihood of it occurring including its identification, assessment, mitigation and control.  Handle customer complaints if any accordingly to Group standards.

  • Be vigilant in driving staff behavior in an aligned fashion, holding them accountable for any violation of policy

To be successful in the role, you should meet the following requirements:

 

  • Minimum of 15+ years proven and progressive client coverage, business development and team management in personal/private banking. 

  • Overseas private banking experience preferred in order to foster global connectivity to meet GPB clients’ needs.

  • Proven track record in high performance in driving net new money, asset growth and revenue generation

  • Extensive understanding of customer behavior and needs of high-net-worth clients

  • Excellent technical proficiency, with solid market and wealth products knowledge, and management skills to supervise and monitor the work of the team

  • Strong organizational, analytical, communication, teamwork and influencing skills

  • Highly developed communication skills for use in direct client contact and problem solving

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, business, related field, or equivalent experience

  • Understanding of local markets, wealth management industries as well as competitor landscape for China market

  • Strong knowledge of local and overseas wealth management products and services
