Global Payments Solutions (GPS) is an integral part of our client proposition and employs our global network to capture market share and deliver growth.
We process more than four billion payments every year and facilitate cross-border payments in more than 130 currencies, to over 175 countries and territories.
Our payments business connects clients worldwide and enables efficient movement of cash through cash management products across payables, receivables, clearing and foreign currency, liquidity, and liability and investments.
Business Management will support team with BAU & non-BAU activities, and short term initiatives.
This job is not client facing and does not have any portfolios. Those employees fulfilling a Business Management role are expected to possess Business Continuity Management skills, Records Management capabilities, working on multiple projects simultaneously, strong presentation and communication skills, people management processes and some knowledge of financial budgeting and strategic planning, in the context of the business area they are located in but are not expected to have specific product knowledge relating to the business or function in which they are located.
The key tasks will include some or all of the following:
- Assisting with the execution of business initiatives and activities in support of business area aims. Change implementation projects, efficiency improvements, internal reporting and other administrative work are also in scope
- Providing support in business planning activities which may include financial, technological and resource planning
- Contribute to senior management decision making by use of management information, performance information, analytics, forums and stakeholder feedback
- Support in forums and committees to represent view of business area
- Support the development and monitoring of internal governance activities
- Investigating and seeking remedies for discrete issues which may be adversely affecting business unit performance
- Evaluate and analyse management information relating to external service providers of their provision, monitor their performance and ensure service level agreements are honoured
Business Risk & Control Management (BRCM) roles act as a First Line of Defense and work closely with Risk Owners and Control Owners to ensure the execution of operational risk management activities, as defined by the Operational Risk Management Framework within a Business or Function. They provide expert operational risk advice and input, and control monitoring for the Business or Function.
Role holders will carry out activities that will include most of the following:
- Directly influencing the operational effectiveness of the functional/functional unit
- Co-ordinate and manage projects; typically working on large, moderately complex projects/assignments
- Management responsibility for a team, including people, objective setting and performance
- Supporting decisions through advice, counsel or services in area of specialisation
- Being accountable for delivery against prescribed targets, budgets and resourcing and responsible for volume, quality, and timeliness of end results
- Acting as initial point of escalation for team members
- Adhering to and actively supporting established policies and procedures in own team
- Supporting change initiatives and embed change initiatives within own team
Principal Accountabilities:
Applicants from all countries are welcome to apply for this position. However, given the specific requirements for dealing in the local regulations etc., Japanese language capability in both verbal and writing is strongly recommended for the candidate.
This is combined role of Business Risk and Control Management(BRCM) and Business Management(BM) for GPS. Both functions are very important within GLCM, where we are focusing on expanding the business through strategic initiatives while maintaining a robust business risk and control management.
- Work within Japan GPS team as a dedicated BRCM / BM resource.
- Business Rick & Control Management (BRCM) role act as a First Line of Defence and work closely with Risk Owners and Control Owners to ensure the execution of operational risk management activities as defined by the Operational Risk Management Framework.
- Work with GPS business function to help ensure they understand their risks, establish appropriate control over those and monitor the ongoing effectiveness of those controls and identify the key processes in their business area
- Provide assurance through regular testing of controls and ongoing assessment of risk.
- Work with the business area to close out any issues and deal with emerging risks.
- Assist GPS Japan Head and business functions for strategic initiatives, efficiency improvements, internal reporting, coordination for Business Risk matters and also provide the support to other miscellaneous administrative tasks.
Experience, Skills and Qualifications:
- At least 5 years experience in the banking industry
- Minimum 3 years experiences relating to cash management products or similar banking products.
- Deep knowledge of industry standards related to cash management solutions and services
- Good knowledge of business risk and control management
- Excellent range of communication skills, including written, verbal in Japanese and English, and the ability to deliver compelling presentations
- Strong analytical skills with strategic thinking
- Experience in global banking environment.
- Knowledge of financial budgeting, people management processes
- Proactive and self-motivated person
- Able to manage internal and external stakeholders
- Attention to detail
