Department Profile:

Financial Institutions Group (FIG) is an integral part of the Client Sector Coverage within Global Banking Franchise. Through seamless Relationship coverage, it employs our global network to capture market share and deliver growth. FIG Japan is managing more than 100 Financial Group Clients (Both Domestic/Multinational) across the Bank/Insurance/Securities Sub-sectors, which some of the clients are being the world’s key largest financial institutions. FIG Japan is gearing towards key focused clients, envisioning to drive growth adding Senior Banker to win business for growth.

Role Purpose:

The core focus of this role is to grow HSBC’s business with core clients in the portfolio. The nature of FIG sector is such that both credit limits and operational funds flows are substantial, as are potential risks. Competition revolves around credit capacity, pricing, liquidity, product superiority and service quality. Clients maintain relationships with multiple banks which adds an additional pressure on marketing efforts.

Principal Accountabilities:

  • Independently handle day-to-day relationship management and operational requirements of clients.
  • Approve (within delegated limits) or recommends for approval by higher authority, new facility proposals and reviews.
  • Ensure the Group's exposure to risk within the client portfolio and associated systemic risks are appropriately monitored and controlled.
  • Provide direction and guidance to team members (including CMs / CAU) and work closely with FIG executives in the region and globally.
  • Develop and implement financial service solutions with core clients in the portfolio through seamless coordination between the Group's business units and subsidiaries.
  • Provide high quality management information to keep senior management briefed on high level issues and market trends.
  • Provide input to FIG management on opportunities for HSBC within the client portfolio.

  • Deep Knowledge of industry and exposure to Japan/Asian FIG market and regulatory environment
  • Proven record of proactively developing and originating client solutions.
  • Track record of building & developing long term relationships with clients.
  • Ability to develop a dialogue with the client on a multi-product basis.
  • Good understanding of risk management and risk mitigation.
  • Good understanding of the range of products offered by the Bank to FIG clients
  • Preferably knowledge of HSBC Group and products, and a strong network of contacts across all business areas.
  • University graduate with over 10 years of relevant banking experience.
  • Business Japanese language skills is required
