  • Negative Adverse Media Screening sits within Screening Utility Operations. The objective of NAMS is to provide CMB, GBM, RBWM & GPB & clients with a globally consistent, and best in class NAMS process. It ensures that screening is performed in accordance with Group and Regulatory Policy, obtaining documents as required from the client/ relationship manager, undertake all the necessary due diligence checks and ensure appropriate escalation is followed according to Policy. The NAMS CoE is supported GSC centers in Bangalore, Guangzhou, Krakow, Mexico, Argentina & Egypt.
  • In line with our ambition to be the world's leading international bank, HSBC has committed to develop the highest or most effective standards for Financial Crime Compliance and deploy them globally on a consistent basis.  The Global Sanctions Policy mandates that all customers are screened at on boarding and periodic intervals, following changes to customer information and when the Official Lists and other applicable Local Lists are updated. Automated or manual screening is conducted using HSBC’s mandated automated customer screening solution which generates alerts for investigation, verification, and follow-up as necessary.
  • To abide by the Group Compliance Policy. The term compliance embraces all relevant laws, rules and codes that applies to business.
  • To continually re-assess the operational risks inherent in the business, taking account of changing economic or market conditions, legal and regulatory requirements, operating procedures, management restructures, and the impact of new technology in conjunction with the donor Group companies.
  • The role holder has responsibility for ensuring all elements of the end-to-end client lifecycle including function such as Screening, Legal complete their responsibilities according to defined SLAs.

The Opportunity:

  • Jobholder needs to ensure HSBC is compliant with all relevant regulation and Group policy. To achieve this, the jobholder needs to perform the following tasks. His / Her main responsibilities are:
  • End-to-end ownership of a case and pro-active management of the screening process right from the initial request to completion of the case
  • Understand the importance of timely SLA/TAT and implementing solutions where possible, avoid workarounds or short term tactical solutions.
  • Understand all changes in the wider context of screening and research.

What you’ll do:

  • Responsible for review and preparation of screening requirements / documents to be sourced from Client.
  • End-to-end ownership of a case and pro-active management of the renewal process right from the initial request to completion of the case
  • Interfacing with various team members and other functions where applicable especially on matters that involve escalation of pending and ageing cases.
  • Update MI ensuring comments accurately reflect the status of each case.
  • Follow established escalation protocol.
  • Ensure good understanding and delivery of KCI’s like Target dates, Cycle Time and are delivered consistently.
  • Ability to establish action points arising out of renewals and incorporate the impact within laid down procedures.

  • Managing requests assigned in a timely and accurate manner, contributing towards positive client experience of the end-to-end remediation process.
  • Manage stakeholder expectations and follow communication and escalation mechanism.

  • Meet the needs and expectations of customers by ensuring that escalations and complaints are handled in a timely and appropriate manner.
  • Develop and maintain excellent professional relationship with all stake holders.
  • Follow the guideline procedures laid out for Screening.

Operational Effectiveness & Control [COMPLETE 3-4 AREAS]

  • Understand the risk implications of the job and deliver in line with expectations.
  • Contribution towards adherence to risk metrics of the team/department.
  • Cohesive working with other members and colleagues. Ensure accurate information is always provided.
  • Keeping abreast of developments within the financial regulatory environment and proactively educate the team on the same.
  • Work in tandem with the Quality Control team to ensure overall high-quality cases emanating from the team and address quality issues to meet the established performance standards.
  • Ensure implementation and adherence to audit and compliance requirements and proactively highlight potential issues to the management.
  • Adhere to the Mandatory learning schedules and ensure timely completion.
  • In addition to the above responsibilities, the role holder will have site responsibility for each region and will be supporting respective time zones.
Requirements

What you will need to succeed in the role:

  • This role requires a self-starter with good time-management skills and enjoys the challenge of delivering change within tight deadlines. 
  • Excellent understanding financial regulatory environment, and screening risk implications.
  • Sound knowledge of financial regulatory requirements.
  • Team player and ability to manage people and performance.
  • Ability to work well under pressure with high degree of accuracy.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to handle crisis situations and take appropriate / timely decisions.
  • Experience in the Finance and Banking industry environment is an advantage.
  • Understanding of Sanctions/PEP/AML/CTF, screening in banking environment.

What additional skills will be good to have?

  • Graduation / Masters / Post Graduation in Business Administration or Commerce or Accountancy 
  • Flexibility to work in different shift timings and on certain local holidays (as applicable)
  • Proficiency in English including reading, writing, and speaking.
  • Fluent in usage of Microsoft Office suite of applications and other business sources used in financial domain.
  • Understanding of the Finance and Banking industry environment would be desired.
