  • Data and Regulation Reporting is a function in Market & Securities Services Operations. It is globally aligned, cross assets operational structure, positioned equidistant from Front office, Operations, Surveillance, Finance and Risk. 
  • OMRC is the key price monitoring control in HSBC for inappropriate trading and market conduct risks. The OMRC team provide assurance that the Global Markets business is operating within risk appetite with respect to trade capture and inappropriate trading, by overseeing and challenging the all-in trade price executed by the business against specific thresholds. The impact of the objectives of this role not being met would expose the firm to inappropriate trading and trade capture risk, as well as market conduct issues.
  • The role of Asset Class Lead of OMRC sits within Trade Conduct Control function of MSS OPS, and specifically in DaRR stream. The OMRC process was migrated from M&SS surveillance into MSS OPS and this role is evolved over the year given high degree of ownership and accountability.
  • The role is a people leader role managing service delivery for the Off Market Rate Checking (OMRC) and Best Execution Monitoring processes across various regions for an Asset class. The role requires strong business understanding, project management expertise, control focus, knowledge of multiple products and P&L impact, and high quality engagement across senior levels to drive change, productivity gains and control benefits.

What you’ll do:

  • Lead, motivate and manage the team, handling contingencies, learning & development, backup, succession & progression planning, and hiring management.
  • Ensure service delivery of processes across as per the standards set out in PLAs and operating with high degree of governance in a well-defined control environment
  • Represents the function and face off to the business on Pricing.
  • Represents the function in challenging the market business with regards to management of specific and overall operational risk.
  • Ensure continuous review of processes with the objective of improving service delivery timeframes, control environment and to identify areas of improvement
  • Tight control on direct costs, identify & implement areas for process improvement / standardization / automation to achieve reengineering saves, support analysis and project rollouts.  Foster a culture of Being Commercial, with an Ambitious Change Mindset
  • Contribute to strategic planning & decisions in senior management meeting
  • Agree audit issues and actions (if any) with internal/external auditors in close-out meeting and implement as per the agreed deadline
  • Grow footprint by showcasing high quality service delivery, centralization benefits especially quality and productivity improvements.

Customers / Stakeholders          

  • Direct customers are the in-country senior management and teams; other stakeholders GM Operations, IT, Risk, Front Office, central finance functions, other teams in GFC/GSC, etc.

  • Assist senior management in strategic planning and decisions
  • Maintain effective relationship with business areas and identify areas of service improvements through regular calls and feedback
  • Influence and escalate key customer issues in an effective way to ensure timely resolution
  • Present MI per asset class (GFX, Equities and GDM) to the respective Best Execution Committee comprising of senior FO & Compliance management.

Requirements

What you will need to succeed in the role:

  • Degree / MBA Finance or similar with at least 5+ years of experience in Controls preferably in a Product Control, Markets Surveillance/ Reporting or Global Markets environment.
  • Experience managing high end Product Control, Surveillance or Reporting & Analysis or finance activities, with independent accountability for achieving and driving results
  • Orientation towards Product Ownership
  • Strong practical understanding of Traded markets products, such as Foreign Exchange, Fixed Income, Derivatives - Options, Interest rate swaps, Equity Derivatives, Credit Derivatives etc. and their valuations
  • Demonstrated team leadership qualities and proven track record of ability to manage diverse/multi-culture work environments with strong organization, time management and prioritization demand
  • Excellent communication skills, presentation skills and interpersonal skills, combined with strong courageous integrity to challenge, ask the right questions, be persistent, give and receive feedback positively, collaborate effectively within own team, outside team and with front office.
  • IT user expertise in working on systems and applications, with proficiency in MS Excel/Access/Word/PPT
