Finance Data Service (FDS) is a new business service delivered in partnership with Enterprise Technology and Data Analytics Office (DAO). It is a strategic solution to the issues of finance data quality, accessibility, and control which will provide entry to trusted source data for finance to consume and the data finance produces. It will also leverage new capabilities such as data virtualisation, and industrialise the capabilities created by Finance on the Cloud, enabling the Value Streams to accelerate both their day-to-day delivery and transformation.
The Opportunity:
About the Role Context

  • Our vision is to create a self-service platform for the distribution of trusted data for Finance.
  • FDS will be an enabler for the wider Finance transformation agenda, regulatory compliance, and the provision of business insight. It will align to the Group Data Strategy and Technology Vision 27.
  • The role holder will support the DAO in maintaining and governing data which have been setup for Data Quality/Remediation process within DAO to support across Finance.
  • The role holder will work effectively across multiple initiatives simultaneously to contribute elimination of adjustments and address of Data Quality and reporting of MI on regulator intervals to senior stakeholders

    What you’ll do:
    Key responsibilities
  • The role holder will support the DAO in maintaining and governing data which have been setup for Data Quality/Remediation process within DAO to support across Finance. Primary responsibilities will include
  • Role holder would be responsible for supporting data quality remediation for the Group Functions.
  • Need to conduct initial root cause analysis investigation into prevailing data quality issues.
  • Responsible for producing data analysis within the agreed framework and complete Impact Assessment Analysis.
  • Would be exposed to wider data models, data policies across finance value streams.
  • Responsible to understand data requirements emanating from various value streams and hence requires insights into various finance data requirements.
  • Role holder will have to support value streams in creating / raising new requirements, validating existing requirements that are to be raised for sourcing / correcting data for achieving value stream objectives.
  • Will be responsible to present requirements in various upstream / downstream data forums to follow data requirements governance process.
  • Will be supporting wider Finance data related initiatives, including resolution of upstream data initiatives, investigation and prioritisation of data issues, liaising with IT / Design teams to support delivery of data sourcing changes / data quality related changes.
  • Role holder will be responsible to understand and handle complex data quality issues which requires in depth knowledge or product behavior.
  • Role holder will be exposed to data design / data modelling and would be helping the Data lead and other Senior Data Analyst – SMEs to drive requirements and sourcing closure.
  • Role holder will have to perform Requirement Gap analysis and raise requirements for upcoming projects to relevant teams.
  • Work closely with diverse Business and IT teams, to ensure outstanding requirement issues / sourcing are being discussed and solutions rolled out.
  • Support the internal and external audit where required. Ensure the relevant controls are met.
  • Role holder will be aiding other change delivery functions like Design, testing etc. so as to deliver the targeted data product / model.
    Support Product Design and Product Modelling
  • Develop materials to communicate information to or support discussions with different audiences.
  • Activities prioritised and completed to required quality standards, in accordance with procedures rolled out.
  • Understand the data model and required Requirements role, flow and end-to-end solution and processes.
  • Analyse current state operating models for Data product against target model to inform transition approach (change impact assessment).
  • Support transition and assess progress, evolving the approach with experience where necessary to ensure new operating models are fully embedded and benefits are realised.
  • Assess impact of change against TOM and support Change & Implementation (C&I) to create a change portfolio that supports a pragmatic evolution to the target state, ensuring minimum disruption to business as usual and minimising gaps and overlaps between programmes.
  • Define and monitor performance measures for the success of change management activities.

  • Understanding Finance systems like FotC, FTP, complex data flows, the regulatory (Liquidity, RWA, Market treasury) Reporting, business, and accounting requirements
  • Communicating with stakeholders across functions in diverse locations and establishing working relationships
  • Absorbing concepts, defining the approach, and developing processes with limited handholding
  • Pressure to deliver within fixed timelines in an environment of ambiguity
Requirements

What you will need to succeed in the role: 

  • Postgraduate/Graduate with 7-10 years of experience Finance Professional who has dealt with Liquidity Reporting, Financial Reporting and/or Regulatory reporting obligations and regulations in the Banking industry/ Finance environment.
  • Exposure to data domain is mandatory.
  • Exposure to Regulatory risk reports like Liquidity / RWA / IFRS9 or Financial reports or GSIB with an understanding of how various products are handled is an added advantage.
  • Exposure to Data Validation, Data Remediation, Data sourcing and resolving data quality issues.
  • Understanding Data product domain with an exposure to Regulatory data / Finance data requirements with a flair to solving data related problems
  • An understanding of the principles of Finance data and various value streams that would sit under finance.
  • Proficient in interrogating databases via SQL queries with exposure to systems and data architecture
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Visio, PowerPoint, Project) and fluent in handling JIRA / Quality Centre (QC) and other defect management tools.
  • Ability to present information to stakeholders professionally and effectively.
  • A self-starter with excellent written/verbal communication skills with a desire and commitment to transform.
  • Financial data product Experience across both internal reporting and regulatory requirements
  • Experience in raising / handling requirements and design, driven by IT systems implementation or enhancement, across a large organisation.
  • Must be experienced in working under pressure on multiple process improvement projects.
  • Understanding of HSBC Group structures, values, behaviours, processes and objectives
    What additional skills will be good to have?
  • Knowledge of working in GCP / SDI, FOTC, Bigdata, FTP etc
  • Understanding Finance systems like FotC, FTP, complex data flows, the regulatory (Liquidity, RWA) Reporting, business, and accounting requirements
  • Proficient or expert level skills in MS Excel and Powerpoint.
  • Experience with using project/collaboration tools such as JIRA, SharePoint, and Confluence.
  • Technical skills in analytical languages such as Python, R, SQL, SAS will be advantageous.
