The Opportunity:
- The Credit Analysis Unit (CAU) is a global function which works closely with Relationship Bankers (RBs) to help them prepare credit proposals for Wholesale (GBM/CMB) borrowing names across the Corporate, FIG and Funds sectors. By closely managing the annual review workload and encouraging deep collaboration between CAU, RBs, Credit Risk, and Client Management, the Credit Analysis Unit maintains a flexible operating model ensuring new business transactions are consistently prioritized effectively to exploit revenue generation.
- The Sustainability Analysis Unit (SAU) has been established as a pivotal support system for our Wholesale Relationship Bankers [CMB and GB], aiding in ESG activities throughout the Credit & Lending cycle. Additionally, the SAU contributes significantly to the Group's ESG reporting. The unit serves as a crucial instrument enabling the Bank to achieve its net-zero objectives, which include assisting our clients on their transition journeys, enhancing long-term climate risk/portfolio management, and providing timely financing support for our clients.
- We are currently seeking a motivated individual to join the SAU team in the capacity of 'Analyst/Associate/Senior Associate'. The primary responsibility of this role involves assisting in the transition risk assessment of Wholesale counterparties globally. This role also includes conducting research and investigations pertaining to the Group's emissions reporting and policy disclosures across various sectors.
What you’ll do:
Principal Accountabilities and Responsibilities (e.g., for Business, Customers and Stakeholders; internal control environment, etc.)
- Risk assessment of the carbon footprint of the Wholesale lending portfolio, identifying physical and transitional risks.
- Analyse counterparty information for climate-related risk assessments, including emissions reduction plans, physical risks, maturity of transition plans, and transition plan evaluations.
- Perform thorough research and analysis on Wholesale counterparties' data and trends, focusing on greenhouse gas emissions accounting, Net Zero strategies, and Climate Change Risk Management.
- Analysis and validation of industry/sub-sector of the Wholesale portfolio as part of the Climate Aligned Finance sectoral value chain along with assurance support for ARA reporting.
- Analysis and investigation of Wholesale portfolio exposure for the Thermal Coal Phase Out Policy (TCPOP) applicability (both lending & capital market transactions) and exposure weighting calculations for eligible counterparties, along with assurance support for ARA reporting.
- Analysis and investigation of Wholesale counterparties for policy screening / eligibility across multiple sectors as part of the client onboarding & renewal process.
- Collaborate with Regional Sustainability Champions to drive various activities as part of the Group's transition to Net Zero.
- Collaborate with a global team across multiple locations to promote best practices and ensure high-quality deliverables.

What you will need to succeed in the role:
Functional Knowledge
- Master’s degree in a relevant field or equivalent
- Degree/Certification in ESG/Climate Change/Sustainability would be an added advantage.
- Ability to engage and influence a wide range of stakeholders.
- Good understanding of ESG and Climate Risk - Understanding ESG policies and their implementation using annual reports, CSR/Sustainability reports and other company filings
- Preference for candidates with relevant experience working in ESG data reporting, climate change research & analysis and risk assessment.

- Analytical Thinking, Problem Solving and can-do attitude.
- Proficiency in MS Office applications, especially in MS Excel and Power Point
