GCB4 Delivery and Engagement Lead – UK COO, Chief of Staff

We are currently seeking a highly experienced individual to join the UK COO team in the role of Delivery and Engagement Lead – HSBC UK on a secondment basis (9 months confirmed).

You will actively lead and participate in strategic projects/initiatives where HSBC UK needs to consider the strategic direction of existing businesses/operations and ways in which the Entity should address broader opportunities and challenges. You will formulate recommendations and present plans for engagement with Senior Stakeholders across the UK ExCo and/or UK Board.

Your responsibilities will include:

Delivery:

·         Leading the Chief Operating Office delivery activity– to include scoping and prioritisation of key strategic activities, reporting progress, and supporting the UK COO scorecard activity (potentially supporting execution of any key activities and troubleshoot problem areas where required)

·         Supporting UK COO Management Committee and UK COO Team meetings to ensure that UK COO Leadership team receive updates on a broad range of important topics.

·         Supporting on any ad-hoc governance requirement

Engagement:

·         Developing and leading UK COO communications plan – creating communications from UK COO, and inputting into wider communications where UK COO is represented.

·         Developing and leading the UK COO People plan in partnership with HR – driving actions, and collating actions updates.

·         Driving forward specific people workstreams on Ethnicity and Ability

·         Leading UK COO snapshot activity to include the coordination and analysis of the results, agreement in snapshot response, reporting response progress and understanding outcomes and impacts.

·         Driving forward our UK COO people communities (Snapshot/Spotlight/Shelter Champions/Speak up Guardians/People reps) – to ensure that People and Engagement activity remains a priority in the UK COO teams.

·         Create and host UK COO wide events on wellbeing and career, and bespoke development events for specific colleague cohorts.

·         Create and host COO related events such as job showcases, and networking events designed to improve colleague engagement and outcomes. 

Requirements

To be successful in this role you should meet the following requirements:

·         The role holder has a detailed knowledge of the HSBC Group and a clear understanding of its culture, very good working relationship with the functional teams and senior management and must earn the trust, respect and support of colleagues. (essential)

·         Significant experience leading within a cross functional environment to create positive outcomes for the Bank (essential)

·         Demonstrable existing experience in a function or role where the individual has led delivery and engagement activities (essential)

·         Passion and enthusiasm for People and Engagement activities, and an ability to bring a wide range of stakeholders together along on this journey. (essential)

·         Demonstrable experience in developing communications for a variety of audience (essential)

·         Experience of UK communications tools such as Poppulo / Kaltura / Zoom webinars (desirable).

·         Demonstrable experience in evolving an idea from a concept into a plan through to operationalisation and well supported by a wide range of impacted stakeholders (essential)

·         Significant analytical and synthesis skills and a capacity to rapidly identify key insights and opportunities, issues and themes which have material impact with the ability to establish clear action plans in conjunction with the UK functions (essential).

·         Ability to translate information into effective verbal and written communications including presentations that can be used with stakeholders internally and externally (essential)

·         Line management / coaching team members is essential; the individual will be considered a role model with high levels of emotional intelligence. (essential)
