Reporting to the Chief Actuary, the Deputy Chief Actuary will be responsible for managing and overseeing all aspects of the actuarial activities on behalf of the HSBC Insurance business in Malta.

In this role you will:

• Provide actuarial advice and direction in all aspects of managing the business. This will include the Solvency II valuation, financial reporting, product pricing and management of the with profits business which is in run-off
• Take a lead role in managing and develop the Junior & Senior Actuaries within the team
• Contribute to the actuarial and analytical work produced in; experience analysis, financial reporting, Regulatory reporting, economic capital, annual operating plans and projected balance sheet positions
• Ensure appropriate internal controls, including relevant procedures and compliance policies are adhered to
• Support the Chief Actuary in activities including; monitoring the setting of valuation/reserving, reporting to the Board the financial status, product positioning and competitive analysis
• Continually reassess the operational risks associated with taking account of changing economic or market conditions, legal and regulatory requirements, operating procedures and practices

You should apply if you have:

• 10 years’ experience working in the life insurance industry and are a Qualified Actuary
• Understanding of Solvency II regulatory regime and the IFRS 17 reporting standard
• Knowledge of the Life insurance products, including how to undertake an actuarial product pricing exercise
• Good understanding of model risk management and experience of implementing this
• People leadership skills
• Understanding of Actuarial Modelling software
