We are currently seeking a high calibre professional to join our team as Chief Operating Officer, Embedded Finance, GTS (COO)

Embedded Finance is a key strategic priority for HSBC GTS, targeting to deliver billions in financing balance and over $100 million in revenue. By partnering with leading marketplaces and platforms, we aim to transform how financing integrates seamlessly into digital ecosystems. Collaboration with a major platform is being progress to launch this initiative, while the foundations are being built to scale it as a cornerstone of the GTS business for future. 

We are seeking an experienced and strategic Chief Operating Officer (COO) to lead and manage the establishment and operations of our embedded finance entity. This role will oversee business processes, governance, financial operations, and partnerships, ensuring the platform delivers innovative funding solutions while maintaining strong financial controls and risk management.  

Responsibilities

  • Establish and manage the operation of the embedded finance business entity, including business processes and governance frameworks covering financial control, budgeting, procurement, reporting, revenue booking, internal contracting, and risk management  
  • Manage contracts and relationships with platform partners, lending partners, and technology vendors  
  • Oversee finance operations, including P&L management, quarterly/annual financial planning, and program management reporting  
  • Identify, negotiate, contract, and manage lending partners while driving funding innovation to reduce costs and risks through identification of external investors 
  • Collaborate with Structured Finance team to enable lending partners’ funding structure design and approval  
  • Collaborate with product and coverage teams, product development teams, and Global Risk Analytics (GRA), Wholesale and Market Risk (WMR) teams to enhance funding solutions, optimize risk models, and develop new funding solutions
Requirements

Requirements

  • Significant years of experience from banking and finance, with proven expertise in setting up and managing business operations and governance for new business  
  • Solid knowledge and experience of financial management, accounting, financial planning and forecasting 
  • Experience in collaborating with risk stewards to manage business and product risks, and navigate governance frameworks 
  • Strong background in debt financing and capital markets, especially structured finance solutions for FI/NBFI 
  • Proficiency in designing and implementing funding solution with a strong network external institutional investor 
  • Demonstrated experience in stakeholder engagement and commercial negotiation 
  • Strategic thinker with excellent leadership, communication, and collaboration skills 
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, accounting, finance, or a related field required; MBA strongly preferred
