We are seeking a skilled seasoned Compliance Professional with a strong understanding of financial crime regulations and banking products. 
Reporting to the Deputy MLRO, the Director of FC Product Risk will lead a team of compliance professionals that provide essential financial crime advice and challenge to product teams in both retail and commercial banking.

Financial Crime Compliance ensures adherence to applicable financial crime regulations and standards by setting the policies which cover HSBC’s regulatory requirements. The team strives to remain ahead of the regulatory change agenda and ensures the business understands the implications and is prepared for change.

Your responsibilities will include:

•    Manage a team of specialists who face off to the stakeholders and product teams as relevant within WPB and CMB, ensuring that the businesses are actively supported and challenged in delivering improved, safe products to customers.
•    Ensure that new products, and changes to existing products incorporate adequate controls against all FC risks, and that any residual risks are properly understood and accepted by Risk owners.
•    Stay abreast of key regulatory changes, particularly where relevant to WPB and CMB to ensure proactive communication with the business and contribute to appropriate policy and framework changes. 
•    Act as an SME for key areas of regulation including but not limited to Payment Services Regulations (PSRs), UK Money Laundering Regulations (MLRs) and Payment Transparency Regulations. 
•    Represent Financial Crime at line of business governance meetings.
•    Provide overarching support to achieve the UK Financial Crime’s strategic objectives.

Requirements

The ideal candidate for this role will have:

•    Strong stakeholder management skills with proven ability to build partnerships and drive successful teams. 
•    Deep knowledge financial crime risk, particularly AML, Fraud and Sanctions, and with a demonstrable track record of successful execution
•    A strong understanding of the controls needed to successfully protect products and journeys, and how layered controls can mitigate risks in aggregate, as well a keen appreciation of how criminals seek to attack products.
•    Innovative mindset and appreciation of emerging technologies such as generative AI, in a risk context. 
•    Track record of resilience and conviction to confidently challenge and influence senior stakeholders, driving essential change.
•    Proven ability to stay abreast of regulatory changes and external trends
•    Sound knowledge of the UK regulatory environment including but not limited to:
-    PSRs,  
-    Money Laundering Regulations
-    Conduct related regulations such as Consumer Duty and their impact on how financial crime risk is managed

The base location for this role is: Birmingham – Hybrid working.
