The HSBC Technology sector coverage team was set up c.8 years ago with a view to deepen and strengthen relationships with tech clients in CMB UK. Technology is a global growth sector across CMB. HSBC UK has a strong presence in the UK tech market, with c.52,000 tech clients, a £6bn lending book, banking 80% of FTSE100 tech firms and 80% FTSE250 tech firms.
We are currently seeking a conscientious and enthusiastic individual to join the UK sector coverage team in the role of Director covering Growth Lending and the UK Technology sector.
The successful candidate will report to the Technology Sector Head as part of the wider sector coverage team, which is part of the Structured Finance division of UK CMB. The Director will work alongside the wider team and MME Tech Relationship Directors and will be responsible for (i) leading the origination, credit submission, execution of the new Growth Lending transactions and (ii) leading and growing our core book to UK Technology clients.
In this role you will be responsible for the origination, execution and support for tech sector transactions.
Specifically:
Growing HSBCs income by winning New to Bank clients, and growing existing clients.
Develop a strong grasp of the technology sector, contributing to shaping our sector strategy
Originate, structure and execute Growth Lending transactions from end to end,
Supporting deals across CMB including sharing ‘what good looks like’ in tech sub-segments
Deepen banker sector knowledge and support client conversation with key insights and pitches
Work collaboratively across HBUK, PB pb & CIB teams to deliver positive client outcomes
Promote, inspire and motivate colleagues, sharing best practice and champion sector
To be successful in this role you should meet the following requirements:
Strong internal and external communication abilities and interpersonal skills are essential.
Market focus, comfortable with marketing, deal origination and client sales.
Comfortable in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple workstreams and collaborating.
Leading strategic client conversations and managing complex client situations.
Experience of credit submissions, risk management and moulding complex lending
Analytical ability to drive strong commercial outcomes.
Interest and understanding of technology today (note: you don’t have to be a sector expert!)
This is a hybrid position that can be based in London, Birmingham, Leeds, Manchester or Reading. There is a requirement to travel nationally on a regular basis for client meetings, events, and conferences, so it is important that the successful candidate can travel frequently.
