Global Finance is integral to HSBC’s purpose and strategy, playing a valued role in managing costs and deploying capital in the most effective way. Our global team of finance professionals’ partner with the legal entities and global businesses to meet their internal and external financial and regulatory reporting requirements, provide trusted insights and forward-looking analysis; in a timely, accurate and efficient manner with robust controls to enable effective decision making.

To support this purpose Global Finance have established an internal consultancy called Finance Solution Group (FSG) of Finance SMEs to support the function with a flexible, multi skilled and agile workforce to ensure they can meet competing RTB and CTB priorities. The FSG provides a more cost effective alternative to external consultants, and ensures Global Finance retains knowledge within the function.

To deliver this, the FSG is looking to recruit a number of FSG Consultants and these positions would be a good match for someone with extensive experience in one or more aspects of Financial Accounting & Reporting, Partnering & Insights, and/or Regulatory Reporting. The successful candidate will be an individual contributor and be placed in either short term BAU roles and/or CTB programmes where their skills meet the demand

The Consultants within the FSG will benefit from on the job coaching and development from the Senior Consultants and Capability Lead, as well as learning that has been developed specifically for HSBC Global Finance.

The Consultants will be expected to:

•    Develop Subject Matter Expert (SME) knowledge in Regulatory Reporting.
•    Provide SME inputs into the change programs/Business as Usual (BAU) processes to which they are assigned.
•    Escalate any risks identified on their assignments and work with the team and stakeholders to resolve any challenges that may impact agreed outcomes.
•    Build their SME knowledge across a wide variety of potential opportunities across BAU and Change programmes, gaining experience and exposure to different senior stakeholders.
•    Demonstrate commitment to continuous learning and a curious nature, to challenge existing processes and identify opportunities for improvement across Global Finance.

Requirements

To be successful in this role you should meet the following requirements:

•    Understanding of control frameworks.
•    Change and transformation experience.
•    Experience of regulatory reporting.
•    Ability to deal with and analyse unstructured problems and queries and to question and challenge existing procedures and change.
•    Good understanding of financial products and how they impact reporting requirement, and more generically the banking business, balance sheet and P&L.
•    Good understanding of Financial Reporting E.g. International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS)
•    An understanding of the key financial risks to which Banks are exposed e.g. Credit Risk, Market Risk etc.
•    Understanding of why banks are regulated and some of the key regulations.

The base location for this role is Edinburgh and with a hybrid working pattern.
