As part of HSBC Markets and Securities Services IT, the main mandate of Markets Operations Technology Team is to deliver global and local solutions for Global Market Operations to automate/streamline post trade operations and improve efficiency. We are now seeking proactive and talented IT professionals to join our team.
We support three applications for Post Trade for the Global Metals business. HSBC is a top global player in the precious metals business. We are responsible for the systems used for settlement, accounting entries, confirmations, clearing and physical warehousing of the underlying metal. We use vendor products from CorePartners and Calypso and we are responsible for developing interfaces to and from them, enhancing them where appropriate, configuring them, running batches and providing support to our users.
Responsibilities will include:
- Work as a hands-on application analyst/developer to provide application solutions to the business
- Analyse business needs and recommend viable IT solutions to meet these requirements
- Design, develop and implement IT solutions to meet business needs, according to established standards and best practices
- Conduct and support testing to ensure the quality of all deliverables
- Produce documentation on system solutions to ensure their maintainability and smooth implementation
- Participate in evergreening, roll swaps, upgrade and security patching activities.

- Sound knowledge of Java backend programming, Spring framework, Spring-Boot and Hibernate.
- Experience with Oracle/Sybase/MSSQL databases.
- Experience with Python.
- Experience with usage of HTTP Restful APIs.
- Experience working in a DevOps focused environment.
- Able to undertake and complete technical challenges outside of comfort zone, sometimes with minimal direction.
PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS
- A university graduate with degree in IT or a related discipline.
- Overall 5+ years’ experience.
- Experience with REST and messaging technologies.
- Experience in enterprise security.
- Experience in testing tools such as Selenium a plus.
- Can demonstrate continuous attention to technical excellence and good design principles.
- Experience in profiling and performance tuning a plus.
- Interest and experience in a wide range of technologies and best practices surrounding Java technology.
- Knowledge of FX and/or Metals back-office processing, workflows for trade subscription, confirmation, settlement and accounting a plus.
- A proactive individual, possessing an outgoing personality that is self-motivated and will be able to work independently and under pressure.
- Strong communication and presentation skills with fluent written and spoken English.
