Cybersecurity Technology & Engineering (CTE) is responsible for fielding solutions that help defend HSBC against a wide range of threats to the business, its customers, clients, partners, and staff.
CEE Engineering sits within CTE's Cybersecurity Engineering Enablement function. We work directly with engineering teams across the bank to improve security practice building and maintain security tooling, defining patterns and standards, and supporting the adoption of secure-by-design principles across the software development lifecycle. Our remit is expanding into AI security, assessing how the bank builds and consumes AI and defining the guidance that governs it.
The role will report to the CEE Engineering Lead and will be responsible for leading the CEE Engineering team's AI AppSec and AiSec engineering initiatives managing a team of engineers, setting technical direction, and representing the team's work to senior stakeholders across Cybersecurity and the wider bank.
This is a hands-on leadership role. The role will set technical direction, manage and develop the team, and contribute directly to proof-of-concept engineering work while engaging senior stakeholders and driving adoption of the team's outputs across the organisation.

What you’ll do
    • Leadership & People Management: Directly managing and developing the engineers within the team including the Technical Lead and AppSec/AiSec Engineers supporting their performance, career growth, and day-to-day delivery.
    • Engineering & Technical Direction: Leading the CEE Engineering team's AI AppSec and AiSec engineering team from scoping and technical design through to delivery.
    • AI Security:  Supporting the team's AI/ML security assessments ensuring rigor and taking ownership of the quality of scientifically backed reporting presented to senior stakeholders.
    • Stakeholder & Cross-functional Engagement:  Representing the team's work to senior stakeholders across Cybersecurity and the wider bank communicating findings, progress, and recommendations clearly and with authority.

What you need to have to succeed in this role
    • Demonstrable experience in cybersecurity engineering at a senior level with depth in application security and a broad working knowledge across the wider security engineering landscape, including an understanding of how security disciplines intersect in a large, regulated organisation.
    • Demonstrable experience leading engineering teams in a hands-on capacity managing people, setting technical direction, and owning delivery outcomes.
    • Solid grounding in identity and access management principles including authentication, authorisation, and IAM platforms and an understanding of how identity intersects with application and AI security.
    • Ability to apply security architecture principles reviewing system designs, identifying architectural risk, and producing guidance that ensures security is embedded from the ground up.
    • Deep proficiency in Python including microservice design and frameworks such as FastAPI or equivalent with a track record of delivering at scale in a cybersecurity context.
    • Experience with cloud platforms GCP and/or Azure and container technologies including Docker and Kubernetes.
    • Experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines, with hands-on knowledge of Jenkins or equivalent tooling.
    • Ability to set and communicate technical direction credibly making architectural and technology decisions that the engineering team can execute against.

What we offer
The pay range for this role is 23 434 PLN – 30 000 PLN (monthly, gross).
Additional car allowance in the amount of 4786 PLN (monthly, gross).

Variable pay is discretionary, but influenced by Group performance, business/function performance and individual performance.
