As Risk Stewards, Regulatory Compliance (RC) Advisors (i.e. GSC Regulatory Compliance DBS & GF or ‘GSC RC’) provide advice, guidance, opinions, direction, and training related to the regulatory landscape to the First Line of Defence/business. They ensure the business complies with the letter and spirit of relevant regulations, thereby delivering fair outcomes for customers and embedding a robust risk management culture in HSBC's business processes. They are a key risk management role that has a broad remit and responsibilities, which include, but are not limited to; advice and oversight on Group policies on Regulatory Compliance, conduct, controls, assurance, regulator engagement, conflict management and general compliance issues.


The Opportunity:
  • The AVP, RC GSC is the lead RC risk steward for the GSC site. A key risk management role that has a broad remit and responsibilities, which include but are not limited to:
  • Fostering a positive culture of compliance by working proactively with the business line/global function/DBS, Chief Control Officers (CCOs) and other compliance professionals to ensure that best practices are followed in accordance with the applicable regulations and internal policy.
  • Provide compliance support, advice and guidance to the business line/global function/DBS and to the applicable Risk functions.
  • Supporting the RC functional leads to improve and maintain day-to-day running of the compliance team at the GSCs/Entity Level, in order to ensure the efficient decisioning and execution of tasks.
  • Support the Group's RC strategy by identifying, informing and advising Senior Management of any developing issues and trends that may impact or be relevant to the Group's management as appropriate of RC risk.
  • Ensure effective Regulatory Compliance input to the governance and reporting processes operated by GSC management


What you’ll do:
  • Support the business growth by providing RC advise/expertise in respect of GSC Philippines while efficiently managing resources by operating within approved FRP.
  • Providing RC-related advice and guidance and recording of the same through the applicable channels or platforms such as Ask Compliance; assist in any associated enhancements if any; and where necessary, challenge the RC-related risk and controls.
  • Keep abreast of the implementation/ revision in the global RC policy and the Compliance FIM. Review and determine its effects to the GSCs, and where necessary, develop supplemental guidelines and/or bespoke training to aid in communicating the same to the impacted GSC businesses.
  • Support 1LOD in their identification and management of RC Risks. As and when consulted, the RC team provides guidance and advice to GSC teams to equip and to help them understand and manage the RC risks and issues.

What you will need to succeed in the role:
  • A post-graduate diploma or degree in any discipline is desired but not mandatory. Higher qualification not a bar provided aspirations commensurate with the position.
  • Minimum 5 years (or above) of experience in legal, risk, compliance, or general audit within a banking/financial institution.
  • Ability to analyse and aid stakeholders on implementation of complex regulation changes, where applicable.
  • Strong leadership, interpersonal, organizing and planning skills, along with the ability to manage teams.
  • Strong relationship management skills with internal (site line management) and external stakeholders.
  • Strong communication, training facilitation, influencing, and negotiating skills.


What additional skills will be good to have?
  • Knowledge of HSBC globally, including experience of its regional operations and culture.
  • Experience of the Group’s RC functions and implementation of compliance agendas/ requirements in a cross jurisdictional environment.
  • Ability to implement training requirements and provide coaching to the team for career and/or personal development.
  • ICA Certifications or any equivalent external certifications on risk and compliance.
