AI Markets is a cross-asset platform and engineering capability that supports HSBC's Global Markets and broader investment bank. We operate as a product and technology team within the bank-building high-quality, scalable solutions that enhance how our sales, trading, structuring, and risk teams engage clients, manage risk, and deliver outcomes. We see ourselves as a "platform company" inside HSBC: accelerating delivery through strong engineering practices, secure-by-design architecture, and a pragmatic Agile/DevOps culture-while partnering closely with the front office to turn ideas into production value quickly and safely.

- Modern engineering culture: Grow sustainable delivery through clear ownership, measurable outcomes, continuous improvement, and strong collaboration between product, engineering, and business stakeholders.

Our department is currently c.100 people strong, based across 7 locations. Hong Kong, China, India, Poland, UK, USA and Canada. Most of our teams are co-located but some of our teams work across geographies. We love flexible working and self-organizing teams and are enjoying new means of collaboration as part of HSBC's hybrid working strategy.

We are looking for people who are flexible in their approach, enjoy technology and who are happy to try new things, as well as being comfortable in throwing experiments away if they don’t work. Controlled failure is considered an opportunity to learn.

What you’ll do
    • Work within a team of 4 – 6 people with a dedicated product owner. Most teams are in a single location, but it can be geographically dispersed.
    • Develop and optimise kdb+ processes and queries to meet low‑latency and high‑throughput requirements for AI Markets use cases.
    • Build analytic and aggregation layers that can be consumed by downstream systems, APIs, and AI/ML models
    • Expose kdb+ data and analytics via APIs/services to front‑ends, AI engines, and reporting tools.
    • Implement monitoring, alerting, and capacity management for kdb+ environments.
    • Partner with traders, sales, quants, and product owners to translate business requirements into technical solutions in kdb+.

What you need to have to succeed in this role
    • Strong hands‑on experience with kdb+ and q in a production environment.
    • Solid understanding of tick architecture and timeseries data capture.
    • Proven experience optimising kdb+ queries and processes for low‑latency, high‑volume data.
    • Strong knowledge of Unix/Linux, scripting (e.g. Bash, Python), and version control (Git).
    • Experience in at least one of: FX, Rates, Credit, Equities, or Commodities trading environments.
    • Experience with CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and deployment of kdb+ services.

What we offer
The pay range for this role is 14 000 PLN – 17 658 PLN (monthly, gross).

Variable pay is discretionary, but influenced by Group performance, business/function performance and individual performance.
