AVP's main role is to manage ensure the timely settlement of all HSBC payments flowing through the banks systems .The AVP will be in charge to overlook these activities and ensure timely adherence to the agreed SLA's, and ensuring teams have the tools available in order to do so. The AVP will also be in charge of ensuring Tight control on direct costs, identify & implement areas for process improvement / standardization / automation to achieve reengineering saves, support analysis and project rollouts.

What you’ll do
    • Attend and participate in meetings relating to their SME role/project in both internal and external meetings and working groups as well as provide input and recommendations to senior management on payment and development issues and enhancements.
    • Lead and contribute to the development of payments services. 
    • Manage projects and to continually reassess the operational risks associated with the role and inherent in the business, taking account of changing economic or market conditions, legal and regulatory requirements, operating procedures and practices, management restructurings, and the impact of new technology. 
    • In conjunction with Compliance department, to implement the Group Compliance Policy by containing compliance risk in conjunction with the relevant compliance department. The term 'compliance' embraces all relevant financial services laws, rules and codes with which the business must comply. 
    • Ensure that standard practices around queue management, training, cut-off management is embedded into each deployment as part of Operational Readiness. 
    • Ensure that a standard set of operational requirements are defined, documented and embedded as 'core' into each deployment whilst ensuring appropriate documentation and sign off for any variance / deviation.
    • Effectively manage and provide subject matter expertise to stakeholders and ensure that process requirements are met, adhered to, completed in accordance with established procedures as well as ensure efficient monitoring and control of payments flow through the Payments (HUB, FVQ, SFE, GMG etc..) and ensuring adherence to agreed SLA’s.
    • Effectively communicate organization strategy and goals. Ensure people are clear about what and how they need to deliver; Take prompt actions to resolve and address under performance and provide input and recommendations to senior management on payment and development issues and enhancements.

What you need to have to succeed in this role
    • Understanding of the Group Payments Infrastructure, SWIFT messages, and FX standards, as well as understand the Bank’s operational and internal controls, products and procedures.
    • Excellent communication skills and leadership qualities to lead and manage the teams, must be PC literate with good knowledge of internal systems used.
    • Strong numeracy and analytical skills with a view to commit to decisions, to be able to collate and analyse management information.
    • Demonstrated team leadership qualities and proven track record of ability to manage diverse/multi-culture work environments with strong organization, time management and prioritization demand.
    • Excellent communication skills, presentation skills and interpersonal skills, combined with strong courageous integrity to challenge, ask the right questions, be persistent, give and receive feedback positively, collaborate effectively within own team, outside team and with front office.
    • Orientation towards Quality (Six Sigma/Lean methodology) and Efficiency.
    • Proven track of Business Partner stakeholder management as well as ability to deal with people at all levels, including senior executives.
    • Very good understanding of Operational Risk framework, internal controls and audit; Payments Products knowledge will be an asset.
