The Payments Team is responsible for providing an accurate and efficient service to Private Banking Clients and Relationship Teams. This requires processing of commercial and bank-to-bank payment instructions received from the Relationship Teams and the Payments Onshore Team. It involves accurately inputting payment details to SWIFT messages such as MT103, MT202 and MT202 COV. All payments are expected to be released with the correct details within their respective cut-offs. Understanding of the controls, audit requirements, and the escalation process is a key component of the role.

The Signature Verification task is an additional scope to the Payment process. This would entail the staff to validate Relationship Manager (RM) instructions consisting of external / internal payments, and change of client data (address, email/telephone, account closure). The team needs to ensure instructions are in accordance with client mandate and has the correct level of Relationship Team authorization.


The Opportunity:

The Payments SME is responsible to accurately inputting payment details from client instructions to SWIFT messages such as MT103, MT202, and MT202 COV whichever is applicable.

He or she will also need to ensure that the payments processed are reviewed for their accuracy in a timely manner and released within cut offs.


What you’ll do:

  • Provide an efficient and accurate payment processing and settlement service
  • Demonstrate good general banking skills to accommodate varied workload
  • Possess good investigative skills in order to identify why payments have been returned or have failed to STP
  • Good working relationships with colleagues within both Onshore and Offshore Teams
  • Working in conjunction with the Onshore team actively review and maintain departmental Desk Instructions/Procedures
  • Demonstrate an understanding of FIM requirements, local procedures and audit controls
  • Demonstrate a positive approach to the change process, training and development

What you will need to succeed in the role:

  • Minimum of 3-4 years of experience in a payments process
  • Excellent knowledge of Faster Payments, EFT’s, SWIFT and CHAPS payments formatting and input and associated payment investigations
  • Computer skills: MS Office
  • Analytical skills and well organized
  • Good communication skills, team player and client oriented.
