The role is based in HSBC Global Finance Centre in Krakow, Poland. The Centre as a world-class Finance function supports the development of the businesses across the European region.
The Financial Accounting team covers wide range of financial processes: Accounting, Financial Control, Reporting (Group, Regulatory and Management Information), Financial Planning & Analysis and Business Partnering. The HSBC Global Finance Centre focuses on systems standardization and process transformation to deliver the highest quality analysis and insight to all supported countries. This role will be one of the key members in the Balance Sheet Velocity Project (BSV) Finance Team.
Corporate and Institutional Banking (CIB) Balance Sheet Velocity (BSV) strategy will enable diversification and a more efficient use of capital across multiple balance sheets. Shifting high-RWA / low-risk assets off balance sheet, embedding market pricing discipline at origination, and expanding origination while optimising hold levels, will help us strengthen capital management discipline. The Finance project team is tasked with developing a strategic solution to support CIB’s balance sheet velocity initiative. This solution must address a variety of finance outcomes across entities and, in alignment with CIB’s plans, eventually be implemented on a global basis.
What you’ll do
- Provide expert guidance and inputs on relevant accounting standards and processes, such as IFRS or local GAAP, and ensures that the project’s design, data flow and processes are fully compliant with all applicable regulations & requirements.
- Possess a strong understanding of both upstream and downstream business requirements, with the capability to translate these into clear and effective process flows. This skill ensures that all relevant dependencies and stakeholder needs are considered, supporting smooth collaboration across teams and alignment with organisational objectives.
- Work closely with project stakeholders to define and implement robust financial controls, as well as clear reporting mechanisms. This ensures that financial data is captured accurately and reported in a timely manner, supporting effective decision-making and transparency.
- Acts as a bridge between business teams and technical project delivery, translating complex financial requirements into practical processes and system functionalities.
- This alignment is crucial for delivering solutions that meet both operational needs and strategic objectivesIdentify potential risks related to financial reporting early in the project lifecycle. They then collaborate with the team to develop and implement appropriate mitigation strategies, safeguarding the integrity of financial information.
- Ensure the delivery of project milestones in alignment with the agreed project plan, proactively identifying and escalating potential risks or issues in a timely manner to facilitate prompt resolution.
- Contribute to the creation of comprehensive documentation and supporting material required by the project.
- Undertake ad hoc assignments as delegated by the project lead or relevant business area.
- Establish and maintain effective communication channels through regular engagement with key stakeholders.
What you need to have to succeed in this role
- Qualified accountant (e.g., ACCA, ACA) or relevant university degree.
- Knowledge of Structured Finance and Securitisation entities would be an asset.
- Familiarity with banking regulations is a plus.
- Understanding of GL systems and reporting software.
- At least 7 years of experience in Accounting, Reporting, Audit or Financial Control with excellent analytical skills. Pro-active approach to process improvement.
- Excellent knowledge of MS Office (particularly Excel and VBA). Strong analytical ability, tenacity and sound commercial judgment.
- Confidence to communicate and build strong relationships with finance staff at all levels of the Group.
- Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and meet tight deadlines. Change-oriented, good planning and organizational skills, able to adapt to changing situations and quickly grasp new issues
What we offer
The pay range for this role is 22 000 PLN – 28 000 PLN (monthly, gross).
Additional car allowance in the amount of 4,620 PLN (monthly, gross).
Variable pay is discretionary, but influenced by Group performance, business/function performance and individual performance.
