HSBC Life is 100% owned by HSBC Bank Malta plc. We are seeking a high calibre Head of Financial Reporting and Financial Control to join our Finance leadership team in HSBC Life Malta. This senior role, works closely with the CFO and is responsible for overseeing all aspects of financial reporting and financial control, ensuring accuracy, compliance and transparency in our financial operations

In this role you will:
· Partner with the actuarial team to integrate actuarial inputs into financial reporting.
· Manage tax calculations & submissions
· Manage the audit process, liaising with external auditors to ensure smooth delivery and resolution of issues.
· Develop and maintain a robust internal control environment tailored to the risks and requirements of life insurance operations.
· Ensure all financial controls and reconciliations are effectively designed and executed and manage balance sheet substantiation.
- Collaborate and work effectively with cross-functional teams including Actuarial, Risk, Operations, Investments and Product & Distribution teams to ensure financial reporting aligns with business activity.
You should apply if you:
• Are fully qualified accountant or equivalent with proven track record in managing financial control and reporting function.• Have knowledge of IFRS 17 accounting standards or audit experience would be considered as an asset.• Understand life insurance products and actuarial collaboration would be preferred.• Have excellent verbal and written communication & interpersonal skills – must be able to communicate effectively both internally with senior stakeholders at the local and group levels and externally with auditors and regulatory bodies• Are proactive, analytical mindset with attention to detail, and able to manage competing priorities under tight deadlines.• Demonstrate experience managing or leading teams
