Job description

To be successful in this role, you should meet the following requirements:

  • In this role, you will: (MAX 8 Points)

  • Operations Management

  • Oversee IBM i (AS/400) and IBM Z (Mainframe) system operations.

  • Ensure high availability and performance of critical business applications.

  • Monitor alert consoles, review and improve IPL, Role Swaps, system recycles, and subsystem handling.

  • Incident & Problem Management

  • Lead incident resolution, analyze recurring issues, implement permanent fixes, and drive proactive problem management.

  • Enforce ITIL best practices for incident, problem, and change management

  • Ensure continuous alert optimization and MTTR reduction

  • Automation & Optimization

  • Identify and implement automation solutions to reduce manual interventions.

  • Work with engineering teams to integrate alert management and self-healing automation.

  • Team Leadership & Development

  • Lead a team of IBM i and IBM Z administrators/operators across multiple shifts.

  • Conduct weekly/monthly performance reviews, track team productivity, and provide coaching. Mentor junior team members and build succession plans.

  • Develop cross-training programs to ensure team members can handle both IBM i and IBM Z operations.

  • Security & Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with security policies and regulatory guidelines (e.g., SOX, GDPR).

  • Implement access control measures to prevent unauthorized system changes.

  • Work with audit teams to address compliance gaps.

  • Stakeholder & Vendor Management

  • Liaise with business teams, IT infrastructure, application teams, and third-party vendors.

  • Participate in technical discussions with senior IT leadership

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you should meet the following requirements: (MAX 8 Points)

  • IBM i (AS/400): Subsystems, CL programming, IPL, BRMS, performance tuning.

  • IBM Z (Mainframe): z/OS, JES2/JES3, VTAM, TSO, CICS, RACF.

  • Automation: Scripting (REXX, CL, JCL, Ansible).

  • Monitoring & Ticketing Tools: ServiceNow, CA7, Control-M.

  • Security & Compliance: RACF, SOX, GDPR, internal audits
