It provides support to various business groups and the job involves data analysis, model and strategy development & implementation, Business Intelligence, reporting and data management and analysis
  • The WDAC GAC Wholesale unit in Kolkata/Bangalore/Pune/Hyderabad/ Guangzhou/Krakow/Mexico provides analytics, data & insight support to various HSBC CMB/ GB portfolios. Team’s focus is on using logical thought process and relevant statistical techniques and right tools & techniques & productize scaled solutions to analyze product portfolio metrics and risk behavior to arrive at value-based optimum decisions

Wholesale CDAO Function:                                                  

  • This function is part of the Wholesale COO function and aims at bringing together existing CMB and GB D&A functions into a single Wholesale Data & Analytics function. As part of this significant programme of change, the function is expected to re-design and rationalize the Analytics, Technology, Architecture and Data. The key areas of focus for the WCDAO function include:
  • Defining the Wholesale Data & Analytics strategy with a focus on Asia. Continue to stretch HSBCs ambition and push boundaries on the use and adoption of Data & Analytics to unlock value and drive growth (10x). Continue the pivot to all Regions to deliver value to our stakeholders – customers, employees, regulator and investors. (build locally, deploy globally)
  • Embed Customer Led Design in our delivery life-cycle and evolve our delivery methods (continued focus on agile @scale).
  • Design and build a Customer Responsive Architecture - delivering on customer expectations in understanding their needs by capturing, interpreting and connecting every customer and market event in real-time.
  • Driving Next Gen MI – shape how we run, manage and report on our business (in real-time)
  • Deliver a new Operating model. Scale of common and shared services (utilities) with the potential to Build, Operate and Transfer utilities into 1. Group; 2. Platform integration/convergence; 3. Effective Organization Design; 4. Embed Minimum Viable Governance

What you’ll do:

  • The principal focus is to ensure data sources and processes are managed in order to ensure data integrity.  In this context these sources and processes are those which impact the Wholesale Client Lists.
  • This role is a GCB 6 role which will require the role holder to have a detailed understanding of the end-to-end service and product provisions and the data processes and data flows from source systems into the Client Lists. 

Based on this context, the advertised role plays a key role in:

  • Act as SME of the process with end-end process knowledge in a Data Management domain
  • Develop / revise / reassess data remediation metrics and procedures for effective project delivery with reduced cost and sustainable quality.
  • Take effective decisions and identify and resolve complex queries including stakeholder escalations.
  • Guide and support the management to take strategic decisions.
  • Enable team to deliver expected results on set objectives via regular monitoring, guidance, training, coaching etc.
  • Flawless implementation of new projects and / or line of work.
  • This role is responsible & accountable for the successful delivery of the following areas:
  • Understand complex issues and review large amounts of data to identify the appropriate action/ solution.
  • Work collaboratively with other teams across MDM within and outside of base location to perform core day to day activities as well as identifying, understanding, and communicating, issues or challenges which may occur and where possible recommending actions to manage or resolve
  • Take responsibility for identifying, understanding, and communicating product development opportunities and associated business outcomes
  • Build business cases and develop Terms of References / Business Requirement document as applicable and procure approvals from the relevant Project Managers & Sponsors.
  • Execute the assigned projects / analysis as per the agreed timelines and with accuracy and quality.
  • Facilitate and manage regular meetings with senior managers, key stakeholders, SME’s, and delivery partners such as remediation teams.
  • Contribute to team development, effectiveness, and success by sharing knowledge and best practice.
  • Assertively challenge and manage all stakeholders including Senior Managers to take action within a deadline.
  • Responsible for publishing regular updates on the projects and develop effective business MIs.
  • The individual will also continuously reassess the operational risks associated with the role and inherent in the business, taking account of changing legal and regulatory requirements, operating procedures and practices and the impact of new technology.
  • Drive and support data quality projects / initiatives and/ or statistical analysis within MDM.
  • Independently deliver end to end results on various Projects / Initiatives.
  • Assist in delivery of more complicated projects under supervision of the Line Manager within agreed timelines, as per agreed quality standards.
  • Responsible for complete ownership of the assigned work streams & escalation management / remediation 

Requirements

What you will need to succeed in the role:

  • All interested applicant should have the following skills and must meet the following requirements. It is essential to demonstrate or display evidence of the below in the CV while applying for this position:
  • 4-7 years of knowledge/experience on data management and data governance
  • Understanding of the financial industry gained through experience or training courses
  • Understanding data lineage, profiling & data quality measurement
  • Advanced SQL, and SQL programming knowledge (E.g Stored Procedure)
  • Knowledge on ETL Process
  • Knowledge and experience on GCP Coding Tools - e.g., Big Query
  • Knowledge and experience on Python, Jupyter Notebook/Spyder/Pandas/Numpy/PySpark/ Scala is required.
  • Knowledge on Data Visualization tools – e.g., Qliksense/Looker
  • Implementation and Delivery Management
  • Business Analysis - Addressing business needs and recommending solutions
  • Requirement Gathering and BRD creation.
  • High Proficiency in MS Excel & Powerpoint
  • Detail-oriented and capable of delivering a high level of accuracy
  • Analytical thinking and problem solving
  • Project Management Skills, with prior experience in managing change, build and implementation/ integration.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills – ability to work across organizations to understand the current data issues.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication

What additional skills will be good to have?

  • B. Com /B. Sc / BCA / B. Tech or equivalent degree (10+2+3)
  • Data Analysis / Management, Mathematics, Engineering, or related education background with key areas including analysis, problem solving and programming skills.
  • Masters in Finance, MCA, MBA or any additional qualification in finance or banking would be preferred.
