Global Analytics Center (GAC): 

  • A mature analytics capability, the Global Analytics Center (GAC), is a hub of advanced analytics competency, providing high-end analytics services across global businesses and global functions. GAC has become a one-stop shop for the group’s analytic needs leading the integration of analytics and data-driven decisions not only in traditional areas such as Risk, Retail, Wholesale, Private & Commercial Banking but also in new domains such as Regulatory, Operations, Procurement, Human Resources, and Financial Crime Risk. It provides support to various business groups and the job involves data analysis, model and strategy development & implementation, Business Intelligence, reporting and data management

  • International Wealth and Premier Banking (IWPB) is our new global business combining Premier Banking and Wealth Management to become one of the world’s largest global wealth managers with USD1.4 trillion in assets.   • IWPB business team will leverage richer analytics-driven insights to enable a more personalized approach to targeting and engaging with consumers. WPB business to provide employees with contextual data for smarter consumer engagement and provide management with robust analytics (customer interaction, attrition, loyalty, cost analysis and transactional and behavioral analysis) for ongoing decision-making and also for mitigating regulatory risk. WPB analytics team provide support 30+ markets globally.

Global Business/Global Function - Sub-Function:

  • IWPB’s marketing effectiveness team through data and insights enable business to achieve tangible business outcomes. Deliver cutting edge marketing effectiveness analytics that drive marketing return, business growth across all paid media channels; maximise efficiency of media allocation & performance to drive acquisition & engagement while optimizing cost; embed smart analytics to advance and commercialise marketing effectiveness in markets; ideate and embed smart data products that drive a more effective marketing experience for our customers and improved ROMI for HSBC IWPB markets.
  • Team assists marketing & business teams navigate commercialisation of marketing effectiveness capabilities in market; deploying Global Marketing Effectiveness frameworks; support IWPB Marketing teams with reporting, analysis and insight capabilities as required; bring to life cross channel behaviour, attitudes, affinities and propensities and act as the focal point for marketing effectiveness capabilities that deliver data driven insight.

What you’ll do:

Job Description:

Decision Science job family is structured to address business problems with quantitative solutions like building of predictive algorithms / forecasting / scenario simulations etc.. Members of this Job Family are differentiated by their capability of converting a business problem into a quantitative construct, solve it with available statistical / mathematical methods (following the right rigour), engage with IT to implement and finally interpret the model outcomes in business language. The range of business problems may cover areas of business growth, improving customer experience, limiting risk exposure, capital quantification, enhancing internal business processes etc. They are required to, as necessary, embed agile & exploratory practices into their approach, justify the choice of appropriate methods to various internal and external reviewers. This talent group is expected to keep themselves apprised of latest developments and industry practices around emerging methodologies, techniques etc. and bring those in-house by applying them for better outcomes. A decision science job family member should be able to:-

  • Apply relevant analytical methods / algorithms to get actionable insights from HSBC's internal (both structured and unstructured) and external data sources
  • Partner with IT / Data Engineering teams to create deployment road-map
  • Provide actionable solutions with clear articulation of recommendations for the business stakeholders across geographies
  • Independently manage delivery of analytics projects by working with business partners across regions / geographies
  • Embed the use of AI/ML concepts, methodologies and tools.
  • Work in an agile model in a cross functional set-up

Marketing Effectiveness & MMM team member has the following accountabilities:

  • Understand how Market Mix Modelling and Marketing Optimization works and be able to explain the process to new team members and business leaders
  • Leverage subject matter expertise in marketing effectiveness tools & techniques to drive incremental growth & improved marketing performance and ROMI.
  • Drive in-depth analysis to identify trends and opportunities for the business; actively create hypotheses and make recommendations to drive forward Marketing Effectiveness performance and KPIs.
  • Identify use cases to improve marketing effectiveness and sophistication through sophisticated use of AI/ML techniques
  • Perform hands-on coding for modelling, optimization and deployment
  • Reporting and documenting progress to communicate with the team and key stakeholders
  • Present findings to stakeholders

Management of Risk/Internal Controls/Compliance:

  • The jobholder will continually reassess the operational risks associated with the role and inherent in the business, taking account of changing economic or market conditions, legal and regulatory requirements, operating procedures and practices, management restructurings, and the impact of new technology.
  • The jobholder will also adhere to and be able to demonstrate adherence to internal controls. This will be achieved by adherence to all relevant procedures, keeping appropriate records and, where appropriate, by the timely implementation of internal and external audit points, including issues raised by external regulators.
  • The jobholder will implement the Group compliance policy by containing compliance risk in liaison with Global Head of Compliance, Global Compliance Officer, Area Compliance Officer or Local Compliance Officer. The term ‘compliance’ embraces all relevant financial services laws, rules and codes with which the business has to comply.
  • This will be achieved by adhering to all relevant processes/procedures and by liaising with Compliance department about new business initiatives at the earliest opportunity. Also and when applicable, by ensuring adequate resources are in place and training is provided, fostering a compliance culture and optimising relations with regulators.
Requirements

What you will need to succeed in the role:

Skills/Experience Required:

  • Minimum 4+ years of experience of using statistical concepts and (or) machine learning models to solve complex business problems
  • At least Master's degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, Engineering, Computer Science, Management or other quantitative fields of study
  • Proficiency in SAS / R, Python, JavaScript and MS Office tools like Excel & PowerPoint
  • Business problem solving skills is essential
  • Proven expertise in using statistical / ML algorithms for solving diverse business challenges and creating significant business value
  • Strong subject matter expertise & proven experience in marketing effectiveness tools, techniques and solutions – Market Mix Modelling, campaign measurement approaches, media planning and spend allocation etc
  • Good knowledge and commensurate experience with AI/ML concepts
  • Strong business acumen with out-of-the box thinking to drive improved business performance
  • High levels of resilience and self-motivation
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to develop and effectively communicate complex concepts and ideas
  • of working in marketing analytics domain preferably for Banking and Financial Services organizations

What additional skills will good to have?

  • Have extensively worked on / delivered analytical projects including modelling, optimization and deployment
  • Proven expertise on SAS/ Python/ R programming, SQL is a MUST
  • Knowledge on deploying models on GCP / cloud - Big Query, Airflow, CloudSQL
  • Flask / Dash, HTML, CSS, JS will be plus
