This role will align to our Fraud Decisioning & Insights team within UK Fraud who are responsible for the day to management of fraud across the business, ensuring that our fraud detection systems are fully optimised to detect fraud against the HSBC UK or its customers.

Where fraud occurs, the Decisioning & Insights team are also responsible for understanding the root cause of any fraud attack, identifying any control weaknesses or failures and escalating these to the appropriate control owner and the Fraud Control Design team.

In this role you will:

•    Develop routines to undertake in-depth analysis of fraud patterns then develop and implement enhanced strategies within our fraud detection systems across fraud typologies, including Origination Fraud 
•    Manage the ongoing monitoring of the fraud detection systems to ensure that they are performing optimally and in line with appetite
•    Interpret and manipulate large data sets to extract trends and identify issues and risk
•    Work with the Asst Managers to ensure that detailed root-cause analysis is undertaken to identify control and/ or process/ procedure failings that are driving fraud attacks, escalating to the process/ control owner and the Fraud Control Design team to ensure that any required changes can be developed and implemented
•    Develop and implement routines to work closely with the operational teams to ensure that any fraud alerts generated have an appropriate treatment strategy dependent upon the risk identified

Requirements

To be successful in this role you should meet the following requirements:

•    Strong experience and knowledge in Python, with the ability to write scripts and develop algorithms for data analysis
•    Experience with data manipulation, statistical analysis, and building predictive models
•    Experience of change management and developing new processes and ways of working within a Fraud Startegy or Analytics team
•    Knowledge and experience of working with Fraud Detection systems such as, SAS EFM, Falcon, Biocatch, Hunter and Threatmetrix would be an advantage
•    Knowledge of Origination Fraud and experience of working across multiple fraud typologies is an advantage
•    Relevant work experience in Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics or any other quantitative discipline would be an advantage
•    Excellent communication and presentation skills, with proven ability to effectively engage and influence stakeholders 

This role is hybrid and can be based in Birmingham, Leeds, Chester or Sheffield.
