GFC Financial Accounting (FA) is a sub-function of the overall Finance function which is responsible to provide outstanding Financial Control support in the areas of Period End Close, Accounting control & assurance and Site Reporting (GRCA reporting/Regulatory Reporting, MI and manual returns). FA is a very important function under the overall umbrella of Financial control. FA ensures that there are adequate controls / checks on the sourcing, preparation and reporting of all outputs to be produced by the FR team. In addition to this MI network sites are also part of FA providing financial support and services to network market in finalization of business level financials, submissions and various MI reporting for HSBC management.

  • This is a critical and mid-profile position that will play a crucial role in financial reporting and MI reporting. This role will report to the AVP External reporting India. The end to end process will include: 
  • Managing monthly and quarterly GRCA/FINREP reporting/Regulatory Reporting, MI and manual returns
  • Managing accounting events such as manual journals, which are key to the ledger close, provide robust accounting and business insight into TB analysis, substantiation, exception management and book closure
  • Involvement with all stakeholders.

What you’ll do:

Service Delivery

  • Responsible for monthly financial submissions for network countries. 
  • Responsible for preparation of Flash results for network country.
  • Responsible for performing analysis using existing/ new financial models and provide strategic support for various month end related activities.
  • Responsibility includes strong understanding of Global businesses and functions with good understanding of systems like HMI, HUB, TM1 etc.
  • Responsible for research, perform and present moderate to complex financial analysis, work with business partners to develop financial assumptions and explain rationale for conclusions
  • Research and analyze financial data, prepare summary analysis as assigned
  • Prepare reports, graphs and charts of data developed, prepare written presentation of financial analysis ensuring reasoning for conclusions
  • Develop, enhance and monitor financial models
  • Manage/Oversee multiple complex business initiatives, ad-hoc projects for business units
  • Ensure MI and other business data requirements are completed timely
  • Achieve established Performance Level Agreements (PLA’s)
  • Ensure all audit and compliance requirements are met
  • Effective communication with peers & Business Partners and maintain good working relationships
  • Ensure support is provided to as per requirement from onshore counterparts
  • Liaise with development & enhancements team, and Administration, Maintenance and projects team
  • Respond to queries from senior group level management as appropriate

Requirements

What you will need to succeed in the role:

  • B. Com /M Com: 7+ years of work experience
  • CWA/MBA/CA(Inter)/CWA (Inter): Minimum 5+ years of work experience
  • CA Freshers
  • Progressive financial and/or business analysis experience, financial statement analysis experience preferred
  • Experience in HMI system, TM1, saracen are required and additionally Financial reporting tools, including hands-on experience in financial analysis review will be preferred
  • Experience in preparing operating plan, trend analysis, profitability analysis
  • Ability to understand numbers and their impact drive
  • Strong interpersonal, presentation, verbal and written communication skills - Ability to interact with multiple business partners
  • Possess good analytical skills, statistical skills to study trends
  • Should have demonstrated problem solving ability and have proven organizational, project management skills
  • Self-driven, with ability to lead and work within team
  • Excellent knowledge of MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint, and Word) technical bent of mind
  • High level of analytical skills and ability to grasp complicated functions in short period of time and transfer knowledge appropriately and document
  • Ability to manage the service delivery of a designated process
  • Robust experience in planning and organizing work in a global environment
  • Should be flexible to stretch and work across shifts
  • Excellent communication skills and presentation skills are mandatory, as are good tact and diplomacy, as the role requires relationship management with other individuals and teams within the HSBC Group.
  • Quality orientation and ‘process improvement’ bent of mind

What additional skills will be good to have?

  • Should be willing to work in different shifts as per the process requirements. (Asia shift starts at 6.30 am)
  • Prior experience in Finance/ Finance Operations would be preferred
  • Knowledge of Banking products an added advantage
  • Hands on experience with HUB/HMI/ TM1/Hyperion
  • Familiarity and experience with automation tools like Xceptor, Python, Qlik view etc. would be an added advantage
