The UK Sector teams comprises of 10 sub-teams of industry experts covering various sectors including the Professional & Business Services sector. Each team manages their respective national sector strategy, working closely with the various UK CMB businesses (Large & Leveraged Corporates, MME, BB & ISB), CMB UK product partners and Structured Finance teams to support origination, sector planning, content, and contacts. They support across all products and corporate structures, in conjunction with product partners and provide coverage for HSBC UK clients and their ecosystem and, where possible, the wider global network including the global sector proposition.

We are seeking a diligent and proactive person to work in the role of Sector Director, Professional and Business Services. 

You will take responsibility for contributing towards delivering the Sector Annual Operating Plan (AOP), improving client engagement, maximising operational efficiency, and growing income, Assets, Liabilities, and New to bank opportunities through HSBC’s full-service proposition. Furthermore you will also have responsibility for the design, delivery, and execution of the Sector’s activities, driving the Sector’s strategy, and for originating and leading transactions.

Your key responsibilities will include (but are not limited to):
 
Business Development
•    Driving business development, sector planning and deal execution, taking the lead on transactions from a sector perspective
•    Being proactive in identifying new market and product opportunities and assist the Sector Head in development and delivery
•    Lead client conversations, including preparing and delivering materials, and supporting dialogue with existing and new clients, key business introducers (e.g. debt advisers, trade bodies) and financial sponsors. The successful candidate will regularly attend and lead meetings with clients and other external stakeholders
•    Driving origination and execution of lending and product partner transactions to existing and new clients, including drafting support comments and opining on ‘what good looks like’
•    Be a recognized subject matter expert for structured financings in the sector, offering support and guidance on structure and credit for relationship managers. Ensuring lending policy is aligned to sector specific characteristics and requirements.
•    Proactive and frequent involvement in the external marketplace, acting as a senior ambassador for HSBC including networking with professionals, clients, and prospective clients

Cross-Bank Collaboration
•    Lead, inspire and motivate colleagues to ensure a seamless sector coverage proposition is delivered
•    Supporting the development of revenues across the HSBC product suite, collaborating with CMB Product Partners, Financial Sponsor Coverage and GB Capital Financing teams, both from the existing sector portfolio and through targeted acquisition of new quality customers · 
•    Proactively support the global sector strategy and drive international/cross border collaboration
•    Know, engage and be the main point of contact for key stakeholders, including Product Partners and GB&M to deepen customer relationships and support/diversify revenue streams

Development of the Sector
•    Delivering and supporting projects relating to sector planning and the proposition for clients, including sector strategies, marketing events (including speaking and hosting) and capital deployment
•    Developing a strong grasp of industry knowledge and trends, including idea generation and compilation of thought leadership. This will include overseeing and contributing to the monthly newsletters and sector insight documents for the sector SharePoint, Teams, and network
•    Contributing to the development, implementation and maintenance of a management information, analysis and reporting framework that supports and informs timely and effective business management and decision making at all levels within the sector proposition
•    Assisting with sector planning and development strategy, including sector strategies and capital deployment
•    Assisting the Sector Head in leading the Sector

Requirements

The ideal candidate for this role will have:

•    An interest in the latest developments in the Professional & Business Services sector and an understanding of the marketplace and the competition to identify opportunities to establish competitive advantage for HSBC
•    Leadership skills with the ability to motivate, inspire and develop people as well as deputising for the Head of Professional and Business Services
•    An ability to work in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple workstreams and competing deadlines, with excellent time management, planning and organization skills to manage the unexpected as well as anticipated issues or events to achieve success
•    Leading and implementing new projects across teams; and the national CMB network, taking initiative to seek answers and gain views/expertise from a variety of stakeholders
•    Outstanding communication skills with the ability to analyse complex information and explain it in a clear, concise and accurate way
•    Experience of working with and regularly interacting with CMB clients and having strategic client conversations with complex requirements combined with the ability to interact with business customers at all levels
•    Robust understanding of commercial lending, risk assessment, cashflows, working capital and cashflow lending
•    Good level of business acumen and commercial awareness, including economic, cultural, procedural, and regulatory issues
•    Past working experience on relevant systems, i.e. Control Assessment Risk Management (CARM) and knowledge of CMB policies and procedures as per CMB FIM Skills
•    The ability to prioritise and manage a variety of business tasks

*Please Note: This is a hybrid role based at any UK Commercial Centre however there will be a requirement to attend our London offices on regular basis.
