The primary role of Global Internal Audit (GIA) is to help the Board and Executive Management to protect the assets, reputation, and sustainability of the HSBC Group. GIA provides independent and objective assurance over the design and operating effectiveness of the Group’s framework of risk management, control, and governance processes. GIA possesses specialized capabilities and skills through its versatile, inquisitive, and diverse team of global professionals. 

We are currently seeking a Senior Audit Manager to join the Regulatory Compliance, Conduct and Legal (RCCL) Asia and Middle East (AME) audit team based in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. 

Role: 
As a Senior Audit Manager, you will be responsible for general audit activities across the Group as part of the Global Internal Audit (GIA) team. You will provide independent, objective assurance over the Group’s internal control framework and bring a detailed, disciplined approach to the evaluation and improvement of the effectiveness of risk management, control, and governance processes. 

In this role you will be responsible for:

  • Leading and delivering RCCL audits, some of which may be major and/or highly complex, which provide internal customers and stakeholders with critical assessments of the HSBC governance, risk and internal control frameworks.
  • Ensuring that audit assignments are completed in a timely and efficient manner with due respect to the standards established by GIA, industry best practices and the relevant risk and regulatory environment
  • Providing specialist professional advice on Regulatory Compliance, Conduct and Legal matters including in audit planning, scoping, testing, issues management and audit reporting
  • Drafting audit reports and audit findings succinctly and clearly articulating key issues, risks and root causes
  • Contributing to the execution of ongoing continuous monitoring activities and annual audit planning exercises
  • Be a dedicated team player who is able to work in a dynamic and multinational culture, work well under high pressure, and proactively engage with stakeholders and team members with respect and courtesy.
Requirements

To be successful in this role the candidate should meet the following requirements:

  • Proven and progressive internal audit experience, specifically covering regulatory compliance, conduct or legal fields, with knowledge of the principles of internal auditing, and ideally in key markets of the Middle East, including the United Arab Emirates (UAE,) is required as well as key Asia markets is preferred. 
  • A solid understanding of the roles of first, second and third lines of defence with prior experience of working in a Regulatory Compliance function either in an international bank or regulator, with a solid and proven understanding of regulatory change, regulatory engagement and compliance advisory management developments.  
  • Relevant qualifications, i.e., Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) certification / International Compliance Association (ICA) diplomas is preferred. 
  • Expertise within general banking risks, processes and controls including relevant product knowledge across all Lines of Business is required. 
  • Excellent communication skills, verbal and written, and able to present and influence, even when delivering difficult messages to stakeholders. 
  •  A team player, with a desire to help the team achieve its objectives, proactively supporting, guiding and motivating other team members. 
  • Experience in analytical and visualization tools preferred
