We are currently seeking a high calibre professional to join our team as a Senior Manager, Custody Product.

Principal Responsibilities

Role Purpose

  • The Value Stream and Product Governance lead is responsible to ensure Custody Product is able to deliver on our strategic commitments – ensuring that the benefits and value generated by our key initiatives are measurable and deliver the right outcomes
  • The role will be required to work with key stakeholders globally in order to drive the development of the value stream construct for Custody Product as well as the ongoing governance and measurement of the Objectives & Key Results (OKRs) defined to deliver the strategic vision set by the Custody Value Stream
  • In addition, the role holder will run the Monthly Custody business reviews as well as ongoing reporting of product updates. They will be centrally managing interfaces with Product enablers. They will also lead regular engagement with product partners such as operations tracking open risk and key service issues to closure and highlighting upcoming client / product developments or changes
  • This role will require an understanding of the Custody Product and knowledge of the wider Markets and Securities Services products; deep technical expertise is preferred but not required
  • Knowledge and deep understanding on Agile ways of working and on the development of Value Streams is key. Ability to document the Value stream construct and the measurement of the OKRs is a must, as well as the being able to run structured governance meetings engaging multiple senior stakeholders
  • Be the Value Stream and Agile ways of working expert for the Custody Product team, engaging the different Custody Product leads in transforming to a more cohesive front-to-back product ownership

Custody Value Stream:

  • Contribute towards the definition and measurement of Objectives and Key Results which drives the Custody vision and strategy on the basis of 4 key principles, e.g. growth, innovation, scalability and digitization
  • Work with the team, partners, and external stakeholders to ensure alignment and direction of the product
  • Create a governance model for measuring and updating status of benchmarking of OKRs

Product Governance:

  • Host monthly business reviews for Custody Product, highlighting any key areas of concern as well as updates on initiatives delivered and business outcomes generated
  • Regular engagement with Value stream enablers and Product partners in collating the output for the business review
  • Governance for all Custody Change requests and ensuring our execution is in accordance to agreed milestones. A review framework to be developed and discussed across Product Leads. This is in line with measurement of OKRs and the delivery of Value against the custody investment budget. Ensure tracking and monitoring of benefits realized from change initiatives

Risk Management:

  • Ensure compliance with all relevant regulatory and legal requirements. This includes as well internal Group Standards Manual, relevant Functional Instruction Manuals and Business Instruction Manuals
  • Minimize operational, reputational and financial risk, as appropriate through close cooperation with Operations, Compliance, Legal, N2MI, Procurement and Risk
  • Ensure that products attain satisfactory, or higher, internal and external audit ratings

Operational Effectiveness & Control:

  • Regular engagement with legal, risk and compliance in order to ensure that products fulfil legal and regulatory requirements and meet HSBC’s risk appetite
  • Close coordination with Technology and Operations to ensure robust frameworks are in place that support the successful implementation of the value stream framework
Requirements

Knowledge & Experience / Qualifications

  • Understanding of custody and securities services as well as exposure to digital, innovation and technology relevant to the securities service business
  • Knowledge of the Agile framework and value stream construct in implementing transformation
  • Experience in product management, product governance and risk management
  • Proven track record in managing change and implementing product controls, actively managing multiple stakeholders
  • Diligent in documenting and publishing updates, as well as engaging with key stakeholders to follow up on necessary actions
  • Strategic and creative thinker. Result oriented, able to drive ‘think client’ and ‘think P&L’ approach within defined risk parameters
  • Able to manage a complex and multi-disciplinary global environment (‘building bridges’)
  • Strong leadership qualities of decision making, authority and people motivator. Good communicator, both verbally and in writing
  • Able to work in pressurised environment and manage priorities effectively and be a good team player at the same time
