This function brings together distinct specialisms to drive greater connectivity in how we manage engagement with key stakeholders for HSBC. Finance teams provide the bank with internal and external financial reporting, forecasting, controls oversight and stress testing expertise. Specialist areas also manage HSBC’s worldwide tax affairs, group treasury needs, and events for investors and analysts. Sustainability teams lead the bank’s work to support sustainable growth in a global economy, including an ambitious plan to prioritise financing that supports the transition to net zero. Group External Communications teams – including colleagues from Media Relations, ESG Communications and Group Reputation – deliver communication strategies that support HSBC’s strategic objectives, protect our reputation and build trust among our stakeholders.
We are currently seeking a high calibre professional to join our team as a Senior Manager Real Estate Services & Business Resilience Risk Business Finance.
Principal Responsibilities
In this role you will
- Careful management of the ASP RES and BRR cost base, managing team preparing reporting, analytics and commentary on Flash and Actuals covering a broad range of topics, including direct costs, FTE’s, Charges to Global Businesses and Global Functions and under/over recoveries
- Provide financial review and assurance of actions to meet the Annual Operating Plan to the Global Head of RES Finance, BRR Finance and Regional Head of SCM
- Support the local country development / implementation of the strategies for the RES function from a financial management perspective, ensuring that robust business cases are developed and approved by the Global RES Cost Alignment Committee
- Provide insightful, commercially driven analytics for the RES & BRR function to understand their cost base, keeping senior management apprised of status, risks and issues
- Provide technical RES financial process guidance to local finance and RES teams ensuring that controls are fit-for-purpose. Ensure any identified control weaknesses are addressed and mitigated appropriately
- You will have significant exposure to senior management both within ASP Functions, the Global Business and Finance; as such you will require a high level of gravitas and credibility
To be successful you will need
- Role requires an experienced finance professional with solid experience in cost and financial management, ideally in a RES environment within a large, complex financial services organization
- Agile, change mindset, dynamic and inquisitive / curious approach to work; commercially minded and customer focused
- Good understanding of Group strategy and strong technical and commercial understanding of what drives the numbers; experience of running cost forecasting and AOP would be an advantage
- Proven leadership and relationship management skills in dealing with all levels as well as the confidence to interact with senior management
- Exceptional drive and commitment, ability to work and thrive in a fast changing and results driven environment, and proven ability in handling competing priorities
- A self-starter who is not afraid to speak up and face a challenge, with sound judgment, decision making and problem-solving abilities and strong influencing, interpersonal, negotiation and conflict resolution abilities
- Excellent communication, planning and organization skills
- Ability to highlight problems but more importantly offer innovative and practical solutions, and drive through their execution in a collective environment and in a timely manner
