We are currently seeking a high calibre professional to join our team as a Senior Manager, Risk & Compliance International Markets Asia and Risk Oversight, CIB, supports in driving strategic initiatives and maintaining governance and oversight across the International Markets in Asia, which include Japan, Korea, Taiwan, Bangladesh, Indonesia, Mauritius, Macau, Philippines, Sri Lanka, Thailand, and Vietnam. In addition, the role will support risk oversight of CIB Asia at the Regional level.
Principal Responsibilities
This role involves:
- Assisting in creating and maintaining a comprehensive view of risk and compliance across all risk stripes in each of the International Markets in Asia.
- Facilitating the communication and implementation of Global and Regional policies and initiatives into the International Markets.
- Supporting the understanding of issues relevant to each of the International Markets among Regional and Global stakeholders.
- Providing advice, guidance, and challenge to CRCOs/CROs in the International Markets.
- Facilitate cross-market knowledge sharing by leading ‘read-across’ initiatives, disseminating key learnings (e.g. from risk themes, issues management, assurance and audit reports) and promoting best practices across International Markets.
- Assessing the materiality of risks and issues and supporting internal regional stakeholder engagement to ensure senior leadership in Asia is aware and briefed on any material issues arising in the International Markets in a timely fashion.
- Supporting CRCOs/CROs with issues management in the International Markets, as required.
- Provide advisory support to stakeholders to facilitate CIB risk management and appropriate governance requirements.
- Understanding business strategies to support the prioritisation of investment and resources, including regulatory change management in the International Markets and CIB.
- This role is pivotal in ensuring that risk and compliance functions are effectively managed and aligned with HSBC's strategic objectives across the diverse and dynamic International Markets in Asia.
- Collaborate with regional Risk teams and Risk & Compliance leadership to enhance and integrate risk management activities, supporting strategic projects and systems.
- Tailor, plan, and implement program roll-outs across Asia International Markets and other standalone CIB entities (e.g. Security Companies), ensuring alignment with strategic goals.
- Provide strategic risk advice and ensure priorities are aligned and executed in accordance with the strategy.
- Support key CIB business strategic initiatives and new business opportunities whilst managing execution risks.
- Oversee risk governance framework implementation, including strategy, policy, and standards for governance and controls.
- Provide expert input into Global Risk and Compliance strategy and framework and aid execution within Asia International Markets and other standalone CIB entities (e.g. Security Companies).
- Drive proactive risk identification, promoting an ‘early warning’ mindset to address emerging risks and issues.
- Identify and address regional thematic issues, weaknesses in capability, and policy design challenges, supporting remediation and escalation.
- Lead process streamlining initiatives aligned with Ways of Working to enhance operational efficiency.
- Support coordination of external and internal reviews, providing strategic advice on approach, scope, and mitigating actions.
Functional Knowledge and Experience
- Experience in Risk and/or Compliance roles or roles that involve the direct management of such risks.
- Experience of working or supporting different countries / markets successfully, evidencing an appreciation of cultural diversity, cross-border risk and opportunity.
- Good knowledge of the HSBC Group structure, its business and personnel, and HSBC’s corporate culture.
- Proven ability to confidently work with and influence senior stakeholders and business sponsors.
- Strong analytical, decision-making, lateral thinking skills, with demonstrated ability to identify links between programmes of work.
- Excellent communication and inter-personal skills, with experience of dealing with executives at all levels.
- Ability to develop practical, cost-effective solutions to complex global issues.
