The Opportunity:
- Senior Product Owner is a high profile role accountable for driving the delivery of business and operational requirements across our Payments Infrastructure, specifically for Financial Messaging Systems.
- The Payments Infrastructure team operates across all our payment systems Cross Border / high value, Domestic & Real Time Payments, Investigations, Messaging and post processing, and is a key partner to Operations, LOB product leads and Technology. Financila Messaging operates in all these areas, as well as all other major Business function within HSBC Group
What you’ll do:
- Responsible for the day-to-day management of Financial Messaging Systems, primarily GMG and SWIFT.
- The Business owner for GMG / AMH / SAG / AWP
- The HSBC Group Primary Business contact for face off to SWIFT with regards to Operational matters
- HSBC’s Third Party Engagement Manager (TPEM) for the SWIFT relationship
- To determine and provide business direction for Financial Messaging Systems development and support teams within HSBC Group.
- To Ensure that HSBC global compliance and risk management standards in relation to Financial Messaging Systems and external counterparties are appropriately managed and controlled.
- Oversee licence to operate and run the bank budgets for Financial Messaging Systems
- The job holder and the team are expected to support major change initiatives in Financial Messaging managing adherence to internal controls (Global Standards, Risk, Compliance, Audit etc)
- Support the extraction of SWIFT related MI form SWIFT provided MI applications
Leadership & Teamwork
- The role supports all Business Lines / Global Functions utilising Financial Messaging Systems (SWIFT / GMG) and will provide operational and/or technical support managing a set of regional teams
- The jobholder will become a SWIFT and Financial messaging system SME supporting Group Members in this regard.
- Functional Knowledge
- Strong knowledge of the SWIFT ecosystem, including but not limited to messaging standards (e.g., MT, ISO 20022, SWIFT gpi, etc.) and their application across the entire organisation, not just for Payment related activity.
- Be well versed with current and future SWIFT propositions
- Understand all aspects of the management of SWIFT RMA relationships, including HSBC process and procedures with regard to RMA issuance.
What you will need to succeed in the role:
- Maintain high levels of Customer Service, technical support, and guidance to the HSBC Financial Messaging user community
- Overseeing and contributing to troubleshooting for complex processes or issues relating to Financial Messaging / SWIFT, by utilising specialised operational and/or technical knowledge
- Excellent understanding of E2E Messaging journeys from the point of client initiation to clearing and settlement, across multiple geographies and scheme types
- Ability to make sound decisions and drive solutions based on those decisions, with the support of the wider team (IT / architecture / operations / lines of business)
- Demonstrate excellent understanding of client facing payments products
- Have a strong understanding of HSBC operations and processes
- Highly experienced in working in technology change projects
- Excellent Stakeholder management across a complex global environment
Functional Knowledge
