We are currently seeking an experienced professional to join this team in the role of Senior Vice President Control Office and Chief Control Office IWPB.
The role holder is accountable for driving and implementing a consistent, effective, forward-looking and future focused approach to end-to-end risk management across the two businesses regionally in line with the bank's risk management framework, providing assistance to Head of Business Risk and Resilience to constantly administer processes involving risk assessment oversight, risk controls implementation, risk indicators monitoring review/audits processes (internal and external) and compliance with local regulatory requirements.
The job-holder must understand concepts of risk management and adopt a process of continuous improvement. Additionally, the role requires the job holder to have strong verbal and written communication skills; in order to ensure that risk awareness deeply permeates within HBID. Finally, the role requires the job holder to competently manage incidents and crisis, by communicating timely with all related stakeholders.
Responsibilities:
- Responsible for the implementation HBID risk management framework and regulatory requirements. Changes in internal and external regulatory and compliance requirements at an increasing pace. The role holder therefore needs to be able to quickly analyse complex situations, be dynamic and positive to embrace these changes, identify practical strategies and must establish the risk and control approach accordingly to the latest developments.
- Perform Risk management / oversight activity including proactive identification of risks through regular interaction, challenge and oversight sessions with key risk owners and production of quality updates to governance forums.
- Provide proactive and evidence-based guidance to HBID on emerging risks relevant to their business and prescribe risk mitigation activities; lead intelligence gathering for input into HBID risk updates and mitigation plans;
- Ensure that planning and execution of 2/3 LoD reviews are closely aligned with risk identification and areas of relatively higher risk through: engagement with 2 and 3 LoD with respect to review engagement model, major upcoming reviews, escalation of issues, etc; and Combined Assurance Plan.
- Business and customer needs to be taken into consideration while proactively safeguarding and ensuring that the highest standards of compliance and operational risk management are established. The role holder needs to be flexible to balance risk and control and provide solid support and constructive advice to Senior Management in the management of compliance and operational risk.
- The role holder needs to cultivate risk control and ownership disciplines within teams. S/he needs to demonstrate strong interpersonal and communication skills to work with various internal partners, teams and different departments towards common goals.

To be successful in this role, you should meet the following requirements:

- Minimum Bachelors degree with at least 10 years’ experience in the Risk and Control space in Banking Industry.
- Proven leadership quality, strong decision-making skills and track record of influencing executive stakeholders
- Strong knowledge of banking products and associated risks and processes.
- Strong understanding of regulatory environment and regulatory compliance risk.
- Ability to interpret and analyse a large volume of information and / or data and provide succinct summary for senior management.
- Excellent communication and inter-personal skills, and confident in interaction with Regulators.
- Experience of creating, leading and motivating a team.
