- We are currently seeking an experienced Test Lead to join our Quality Assurance team within Product Solutions. The role will work with team members and stakeholders in our globally-dispersed business
The Opportunity:
- The Test Lead will be responsible for managing test activities for projects and BAU product releases within MSS Product Solutions. This will include defining, agreeing and documenting the test approach and test artefacts, determining resource requirements, overseeing test phase entry, ‘hands on’ management of test execution, defect management, status reporting, providing sign off on completion of test execution, and identifying risks and issues.
- As a subject matter expert, the Test Lead will provide authoritative advice and guidance on testing best practice, tooling and techniques to the Test Team, project/programme management and stakeholders across MSS. The Test Lead will contribute to continuous improvements in test governance and ways of working, and participate in initiatives to share lessons learned and drive improvements across MSS. This role requires a strong technical background, excellent leadership skills, and a deep understanding of quality assurance methodologies and processes.
- The Test Lead will support personal development of the Test Analysts via project opportunities, training and coaching sessions, and by contributing to and promoting knowledge sharing within the Test Team.
What you’ll do:
The key responsibilities for the role are:
- Promote adherence to testing best practice and governance
- Define, document and agree the test strategy, approach and plans for the project/release. Document and agree the required test artefacts and deliverables
- Actively manage and coordinate test activities in accordance with the project/release timeline
- Identify and document testing assumptions, risks and issues, and ensure these are communicated to stakeholders
- Assess and document required test resourcing to meet the project/release timeline
- Capture key learnings from each project/release so these can be used to improve test practice and approach for future implementations
- Build and maintain collaborative relationships with both internal and external stakeholders
- Acknowledge and address stakeholder concerns and provide guidance towards resolving issues
- Provide authoritative advice and guidance on test processes and approach
- Lead by example and act as role model for team members
- Foster a team culture in which career aspirations can be promoted and progressed via project opportunities
- Support team members by fostering an open, inclusive culture with a focus on personal well-being
- Identify key person dependencies (KPDs) on individual projects and within the wider team, and develop succession plans to address KPDs
What you will need to succeed in the role:
- Strong knowledge of the testing lifecycle and in particular automated test frameworks
- University degree or professional diploma/certification in Computer Science, Software Engineering or related fields
- Expertise in functional, integration, user acceptance and model office testing
- Experience in test automation
- Strong technical skills, including programming languages, testing frameworks, and defect tracking tools.
- Experience in working with different testing methodologies, i.e. Agile, Hybrid and Waterfall
- Demonstrable experience in leading and managing test teams
- Ability to effectively prioritise competing demands and work with minimal direction
- Strong attention to detail
- Ability to understand and interpret complex business and IT requirements
- Demonstrable capability to communicate effectively both in writing and verbally with a variety of stakeholders and a globally dispersed team
- Financial services experience, ideally in securities services or asset management
What additional skills will be good to have?
- Experience in dealing directly with clients and third-party providers
- Knowledge of collaboration tools – Confluence, JIRA and Microsoft Teams
