Underwriting Services undertakes all credit risk related processing for Retail Banking customers from the point of initial customer evaluation to the point of pre-delinquency or closure. The primary purpose of UwS is to manage the credit risk to the Bank in line with the stated risk appetite and policies while meeting agreed customer journey standards and enabling the business to grow profits sustainably; and to ensure that Underwriting Services processes will adhere to all applicable global and local regulatory policies and Bank standards including relevant credit policies.
The UWS GSC team comprises of c.1300 FTE across 5 countries / 6 sites – India (Hyderabad, Vizag), Philippines (Manila), China (Guangzhou), Malaysia (Kuala Lumpur), and Sri Lanka (Colombo). This team supports lending underwriting operations for 13 markets across the group.
The Opportunity:
GSC Underwriting Operations Head would be responsible for the day-to-day operations in AMH unsecured Operations (Cards / Loans). Monitor the business according to the defined strategic priorities and objectives. Define and implement operations strategy, structure and processes. Manage operational efficiency and reduce cost through various available initiative whilst ensuring that budget and FRP remain within target or flat. Strong business relationship and partnership to be able to identify and implement potential opportunities that may improve customer journey and ensure customer satisfaction. Oversight to Projects and Risks that may impact operations and pro-actively identify any challenges and provide solution to ensure delivery of these initiatives. Deliver strong performance through a strong culture of people development and performance management guidelines. Building a strong capability matrix to create an agile team ready for the future.

What you will need to succeed in the role:
Operations
Strong leadership skills evidenced by achievement of objectives together with a track record of development of individuals.
Proven experience of successfully managing and developing staff across a diverse range of processes, with an ability to provide direction and motivation in an ever-changing environment
Strong verbal and business communication skills.
Proven record in building and maintaining business relationships and a strong customer service drive.
Excellent analytical skills and commercial acumen, with ability to promote innovation.
Proven process management, improvement and service management skills.
Evidence of active participation in establishing and managing effective Operational Risk.
Evidence of strategy design and implementation with sound understanding of internal/external business environment.
Multiple lending Knowledge of Secured and Unsecured products.
At least 5yrs of relevant experience in banking and operational management.

It is vital that robust underwriting strategies, supported by strong underwriting operational capabilities are in place to ensure success.
