We are currently seeking a high caliber professional to join our team as a Analyst, Credit Analysis Unit.
Role Purpose
Credit Analysis Unit (CAU) works closely with Wholesale Banking Relationship Managers (RMs) to help them prepare credit proposals (CARMs) for all Wholesale Banking borrowing customers. It is necessary for CAU to provide effective support to the RMs in order to grow the Bank’s share of the customer’s wallet without compromising the quality of the Bank’s credit portfolio.
Principal Accountabilities:
The Credit Analyst is responsible for the following:
- Preparing and writing credit proposals for (i) periodic credit reviews, (ii), new money requests, and (iii) new borrowing clients, with focus on corporate customers
- Assessing the credit-worthiness of borrowing customers and the appropriateness of credit facilities through the analysis of the company’s operations, financial statements, management, industry, and other relevant information
- Delivering the appropriate analysis in a time-sensitive and thorough manner to enable the RMs to respond to business opportunities, which will be key in sustaining Wholesale Banking’s growth momentum
- Ensuring that credit proposals are aligned with pertinent credit policies (e.g. FIM, BIM, Local Lending Policies) and are submitted to a standard that meets or exceeds HSBC’s standards
- Safeguarding the bank from potential losses arising from credit risks by proactively monitoring the borrowers’ credit quality and keeping abreast of company / industry / economic developments
- Supporting the RMs in the timely closure of Approval Conditions and Term Loan Covenant Monitoring
- Ensuring audit recommendations are properly implemented and that there are no repeat findings
- Supporting other initiatives where CAU expertise is required
Qualifications
Experience, Skills and Qualifications
- Excellent financial analysis and problem solving skills
- Able to understand and consolidate business information and identify / mitigate risk issues
- Ability to effectively engage and negotiate with stakeholders demonstrating considerable foresight and interpersonal skills.
- Able to cope with pressure and tight deadlines
- Ability to multitask and manage time effectively
- Understanding of HSBC Group credit policies, processes, and systems
- Experience in credit risk discipline strongly preferred;
- Holding a CFA, CPA, or other professional qualifications will be viewed as an advantage
