We are currently seeking an experienced professional to join our team in the role of Architecture Manager.

Business: WPB Technology

Principal responsibilities:

  • Creating loosely coupled architectural framework, populated with technology options and defining inter-connective patterns and approaches between components areas.
  • Creating platform roadmaps and ensuring cost effective, compliant and appropriate architectures are developed.
  • Owning and maintaining Platform application architecture.
  • Maintain Platform integrity, ensuring reuse of applications and features for multiple Value Streams.
  • Promote reuse of Platform solutions across Sub-Value Streams.
  • Defining the key backlog items in line with the platform strategy for input into Value Stream or Enabler backlogs.
  • Support definition of non-functional requirements of the Platform.
Requirements

Platform Architecture

  • Ensuring platform architecture reflects the needs of their products and associated enterprise-wide requirements, and working closely with the GBGF CIO architecture function and the solution architects to ensure alignment.
  • Understand platform requirements by determining the business aspiration for solution delivery in the medium / long term.
  • Iteratively deliver an architecture that aligns against the business strategy.
  • Ensuring the solution designs created by solution architects are:
  • compliant with the platform architecture and roadmap.
  • cost effective consumable solutions.
  • design of products and services meet mandatory and regulatory compliance requirements.
  • operational issues (performance, operator intervention, alerting, design defect related issues etc) are addressed in the product architecture and fed into the backlog of change on an ongoing and regular basis.
  • Working with the Technical Product Manager, CTOs, Product Owner, Solutions Architect and Technical Leads to turn overall business requirements into more detailed stories which are progressed by the teams.
  • Understand group strategy within their platform and ensure alignment.
  • SME experts to help diagnose and solve issues with deployed systems.
  • Work with engineering teams to realise the architecture and, where appropriate, provide full life cycle technical guidance to development teams and ensure quality technical deliverables.
  • Ensure various pieces of technical architecture fit together and function successfully in production mode.

Governance

  • Own and evolve technology patterns with their platform/domain.
  • Definition of technology usage standards and patterns to reflect typical use cases for each technology.
  • Definition of interconnection, communication, and data passing standards and approaching between the architectural components.
  • Close alignment with engineering, testing, and solution architecture teams to ensure platform architecture patterns and technologies are practically grounded and reflect real world design and development challenges.
  • Ownership of practical governance activities for platform technologies such as setting out rationale, ensuring governance alignment.
  • Undertake sample code reviews for assigned projects to ensure the code is delivered in accordance with Group standards and methodology.

Architecture Mindset

  • Evaluation of new technologies and alignment of technology within the architectural framework.
  • Understand state of art technologies, trends and patterns as a means of influencing best in class solutions.
  • Understand and engage with industry trends and vendors within their technology area.
  • Exploration and identification of new and future technologies that can be adopted by HSBC to support and drive digital channels value in terms of cost, deployment pace, and capability.
  • Liaise with Chief Architect Office in identifying technology solutions/patterns for global reuse.

Leadership

  • Communicate the technical approach within their platform and influence platform and solution architectures.
  • Communicate with group architects to influence direction and lessons learnt.
