Role Purpose:
The Compliance Manager will provide support to the Asset Management (AM) MENA Chief Risk and Compliance Officer (CRCO) in owning 2nd line Compliance responsibilities relating to AM MENA. The purpose of the role is to support the effective identification, assessment, management, monitoring, and mitigation of Risks and ensure that all legal and regulatory requirements are met for AM MENA.

Duties & Responsibilities:
•    Supports the development and implementation of AM MENA risk management and compliance function in line with local regulations, AM Risk & Compliance and HSBC Group Risk strategy and policy.
•    Will support the Risk Steward for Financial Crime and Regulatory Compliance, meeting the HSBC Group’s requirements for Risk Stewards.
•    Supports risk and compliance governance processes, providing strategic insights to the AM MENA CRCO on compliance matters ensuring that actions are implemented.
•    Partners with the business line managers to achieve growth goals through providing high caliber tools, training, information, compliance guidance. 
•    Identifies and manages risks introduced through change, including new investment fund products and new projects/initiatives.
•    Supports the AM MENA CRCO in providing advice, training, and risk stewardship to ensure AM complies with the letter and spirit of relevant regulations to deliver fair outcomes for customers, to uphold integrity in financial markets, thus ensuring compliance with all relevant Conduct and regulatory requirements.
•    Support an efficient Risk & Compliance structure which supports the business in strategic growth objectives. 
•    Supports the Regulatory Compliance (RC) and Financial Crime Compliance (FCC) functions that are considered to be high quality and fit for purpose underpinned by an appropriate governance infrastructure
•    Supports the Group’s, Region’s and Global Businesses’ knowledge of compliance management by incorporating compliance considerations in all activities undertaken to protect and enable the business’ activities through a robust risk management understanding.
•    Supports effective relationships with SCA and the other MENA region regulators.
•    Works collaboratively with other senior executives in Asset Management, Global Line of Businesses, Functions, DBS, Geographies and countries to implement the AM MENA strategy and Group requirements for Compliance.
•    Ensures effective relationships with key stakeholders both within and external to HSBC, increasing connectivity and originating new productive relationships.
•    Remains up to date on latest industry developments and HSBC Non-financial risk framework; enable teams to incorporate improvements to drive towards operational excellence.
•    Supports the AM MENA CRCO on identifying major changes in global / regional / country-specific regulatory / statutory norms and ensure these are implemented
•    Understands impact of macroeconomic trends, continuously adapting the Compliance function support and activities based on risk, business needs and Group’s strategy
•    Supports the AM MENA CRCO to ensure that AM MENA activities are conducted in compliance with all applicable laws, rules, regulations and procedures, in accordance with best market practice
•    Understand, follow and demonstrate compliance with all internal and external rules, regulations and procedures that apply to the conduct of the business, specifically Internal Controls and any Compliance policy including, inter alia, the Group Risk and Compliance policies.

Requirements

Qualifications & Experiences: 
•    Graduation degree is REQUIRED– to secure a UAE Visa and Work Permit.
•    Possess a Bachelor’s degree in law, Business Administration, Finance or a related field
•    Seasoned compliance professional with experience within a global financial services organization
•    Experience working with asset management products
•    Experience of dealing with regulatory matters and confident interaction with Regulators 
•    Experience of managing within a complex matrix environment
•    Experience in second line of defense roles including RC & FCC
•    Experience in understanding the voice of the customer 
•    Proven ability to proactively and constructively engage with senior management, regulators, auditors and examiners
•    Good quantitative knowledge and experience.
•    Experience and agility in managing and engaging with the local work environment, culture, and language 
•    English is a must, Arabic is preferred
