We are currently seeking a high calibre professional to join our team as an Chief Control Officer

Principal Accountabilities: key activities and decision making areas

  • Implement a consistent Non-Financial Risk (NFR) Management Framework across HSBC Vietnam, with a set of standardized risks and controls
  • Partner with HSBC Vietnam executives and DBS functional heads to improve control effectiveness and reduce manual controls / processes
  • Partner with different businesses and functions to implement best practice across 1LOD
  • Lead post incident reviews in response to internal risk events, driving quickly towards robust root cause analyses and action plans
  • Ensure operational and risk management best practices are identified, defined and implemented across HSBC Vietnam in collaboration with the Risk function
  • Understand and effectively manage the diverse risk management requirements of HSBC whilst driving increased quality of services across the DBS Functions
  • Effectively manage stakeholder relationships across HSBC Vietnam Senior Leaders, Global Businesses, Global Functions, DBS Functions, products and network to drive HSBC   Vietnam risk priorities
  • Collaborate with Risk & Compliance and Global/Regional CCO Functions through community to ensure commonality and consistency of approach and solutions
  • Build relationships with key regulatory stakeholders to deliver internal and external regulatory requirements
  • Co-ordinate and manage relationships with internal and external audit stakeholders
  • Influence and shape the development of regulatory frameworks in collaboration with internal parties
  • Provide remit area Senior Management with updates on any releant changes to policy or projects related to operational risk that have an impact on their area of   responsibility.
  • Active and engaged member of the COO's Senior leadership team, providing risk and control thought leadership
  • Management of a an entity CCO team to provide risk management services across the bank
  • Ensure that the team is adequately resourced and skilled to meet the demands of the organisation and drive alignment across the Control Functions
  • Drive a high performance culture across wider CCO teams, through delivering standards, collaboration and effective people interaction
  • Engaged and inspirational team leadership and management of direct reports, including effective performance management, talent management, succession planning and   employee engagement
  • Drive ‘Diversity and Inclusion’ agenda throughout CCO by building a connected and collaborative CCO Workforce   
  • Shape and lead the strategy for the Entity CCO function
  • Lead the overall CCO operating model work across the market, driving simplification and challenging the status quo
  • Oversight of key risk programmes such as Operational Resilience
  • Digitize and automate the CCO function through the use of trending and insight analysis
  • Work with Technology and Data & Analytics Office in defining the tooling and technical architecture that will support Operational Risk Management and Operational   Resilience
  • Work with the 2nd Line of Defense to continuously improve and identify further enhancement and/or simplification opportunities
  • Managing efforts to continuously improve the control environment and monitoring of risk, including behaviors
  • Identify trends to anticipate future developments in the risk and control environment
  • Promote desired behaviors and a positive risk culture across the remit area
  • Actively challenge poor, inefficient or excessive controls, related tasks and behaviors 


Qualifications

Experience Requirements:

  •  5 – 10 years’ experience in banking industry

Knowledge/Experience

  • Understanding of HSBC structures, processes and objectives across the Group
  • Good knowledge of the Group, DBS and the WPB/WSB/MSS businesses, including products & services
  •  Having experience of internal control and risk management
  • Having knowledge of operational risk and controls, security risks, compliance and legal issues, audit standards, preferably gained through experience in front line and risk roles
  • Ability to handle multi-tasks, prioritize and work independently under pressure within a team environment
  • Knowledge of the constantly evolving external environment (risk, regulatory, political and market)
  • Demonstrated experience of leading in a complex environment defining and implementing strategy and delivery of business transformation
  • Demonstrated experience in a Risk Management domain
  • Ability to quickly identify, assess and manage risks across a diverse range of functions/areas
  • Proven ability in analytical reasoning, including being able to contextualize data into business activities and conclusions
  • Excellent ability to build relationships by communicating, influencing, and negotiating effectively with senior executives, non-executives, regulators, third parties and internal management teams
  • Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills, with a proven ability to communicate effectively and confidently at all levels verbally and in writing.
