We are currently seeking a highly qualified individual to be a part of the Institutional Client Group (ICG) team in the role of Director in Singapore to primarily cover relationships with Liquid Investors, Hedge Funds & Asset Managers.
The ICG team is a global coverage function responsible for managing HSBC’s relationships with a wide spectrum of institutional clients including asset managers, asset owners, hedge funds, financial sponsors, the public sector and central banks.
The ICG team provides the full spectrum of HSBC’s products and services working with product partners across Global Banking & Markets including Markets & Securities Services, Global Banking, Global Liquidity & Cash Management, Global Trade & Receivables Finance and Issuer Services.
Responsibilities will include:
- Responsible for ongoing global relationship management, credit and financial crime risk, retention of existing business and origination of new business with Hedge Funds.
- Responsible for the global relationship, working with regional relationship bankers and product partners globally.
- Lead active origination and facilitation of clients’ access to HSBC products
- Proactively develop an understanding of the clients’ business needs and identify solutions
- Identify business at risk, coordination of defence of existing business and mandates across the full spectrum of HSBC products and solutions.
- Work closely with internal stakeholders to ensure that transactions are balancing risk, return and profitability are in compliance of both internal and external requirements and safeguarding the bank against any material loss.
- Develop and institutionalise effective and beneficial relationships with individuals, including C-suite, at the clients and internally within HSBC
- Assist in the support of the broader ICG coverage team, driving revenue generation against targets, product alignment, client planning, client briefings, customer satisfaction, cost containment and supporting development and training of more junior staff.

- Demonstrate strong leadership and people management skills as well as the ability to work under pressure.
Observation of Internal Controls
- Maintains HSBC internal control standards, including timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators.
- Understands, follows and demonstrates compliance with all relevant internal and external rules, regulations and procedures that apply to the conduct of the business in which the jobholder is involved, specifically Internal Controls and any Compliance policy including, inter alia, the Group Compliance policy.
Requirements
To be successful in this role you will require:
- Banking/finance or client coverage/sales background
- Knowledge of the Hedge Fund sector.
- Proven relationship management skills with global clients and a track record of C-Suite engagement and trusted advisor status.
- A strong understanding of risk management and risk mitigation.
The chosen candidate for this role will be required to undergo enhanced vetting. Subject to local laws, this will require the individual to satisfactorily pass a series of additional checks as part of the recruitment process and on an ongoing basis, if appointed to the role.
