In Canada, HSBC Global Services (Canada) Limited (HGCA) is a wholly owned subsidiary of HSBC Global Services Limited. Operating in Toronto and Vancouver, HGCA is part of a global service company, delivering services to support the operating entities of HSBC Group. We have different capabilities that provide tools and processes to facilitate the functions, business and entities with their service management responsibilities.
The role is within a FX Option (FXO) Primary Trade System team operating in DevOps model with 5 staff in Toronto, 1 in London, 3 in HK and 8 in China. The Global FXO team numbers 90 people split in functional pods mostly based in Asia Pacific region, with support outside of core pod hours managed through a triage layer of resources from other pods in EMEA and America regions. It's therefore expected that this role in Toronto required to provide initial incident cover for a range of application in FX Options technology platform.
Applications in FX Option team including Murex, Trade Services, Pricing and Hedging, eRisk and Distribution as well as Trade Reporting. We are also working closely with Global FX Compute team.
Murex (version 3.1) is a vendor solution. It is used by FXO business for Risk Management, Trade Lifecycle management and Reporting.
FXO Murex is a global instance supporting 3 main hubs - London, HK and NY and up to 30 other entities with a daily average volume of 10k trades. The platform supports a wide range of vanillas, exotics and HSBC flex products.
As our Full Stack Engineer, DevOps you will:
- Providing functional support for Front Office, Middle Office and Traded Risk users including assistance with PnL and Risks investigation
- Analysis of trade lifecycle issue including reporting, working with the Back Office to analyse Front to Back issues.
- Communicate with the Business, Murex, IT development and support teams to capture requirements, develop and release necessary changes
- Working with the Quants team to identify issues in HSBC Flex valuations
- Providing functional advice and support to other members of the global team
- Delivering bug fixes to production using continuous delivery methodologies
- Contribute to the knowledge base to enhance effectiveness of pod and triage layer
- Contribute to Monitoring and alerting
- Provide functional support to front officer business.
- Assess the issues to identify specific areas of concern and triage the issue to the right team.
- Ensuring applications function smoothly, troubleshooting issues, monitoring performance
- Implementing solutions to improve user experience and system stability.
- Incident management
- Work closely with global team, including development and system implementation
You´ll likely have the following qualifications to succeed in this role:
- Detailed Knowledge of FX Derivatives
- Strong Murex application knowledge: Simulations, Livebook, PnL, Risk, Datamart, General Settings, Market Data Import, MxML Exchange
- Software Engineering
- Relational Databases, SQL proficiency
- Excellent communication, verbal and written
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Ability to work to tight deadlines and under pressure without sacrificing accuracy and quality
- Production incident management
- Experience working as part of geographically diverse team
- Investment Banking IT background desirable, as is experience of working in a front office environment
- Previous experience support FX Options business
- Java & Python coding
